Why can’t Europeans and Canada walk away? Wouldn’t it send a better message if US military was kicked out of Brussels rather than giving them an option of staying or walking? We could then also sideline the likes of Hungary as well.

If you were an analyst at JPMorgan, knowing your CEO was very pro-Trump, wouldn’t you want to soften any criticism of him by framing it as unintentional?

Moving to EDI from LON released us from the BA/LHR tyranny. Many better options from EDI, especially flying east (Qatar and Emirates). Instead of a 3rd runway at LHR, just shut the place down and build houses on it. Isn’t BA a Spanish airline these days anyway?

Agree we regard gvmt perma-crisis as normal now, and can’t quite adjust to one that’s going to survive to 2029. Disagree that FT is only non-left media covering Labour policy, though. I think The Economist has covered key policies pretty well.

Is this any different to any industry in process of rapid change? Did steel workers or miners feel any different in the 80s? If demand for your product is falling for whatever reason, and you can’t get people to pay enough to cover costs, then your industry will contract.

We almost had a development derailed by a coin toss (really!) in Edinburgh. On site of a disused office. Entire plan rejected by LibDem Planning chair. Nearly derailed by SNP (“housing emergency” anyone?) demanding extra £2m education contribution www.edinburghlive.co.uk/news/edinbur...

Yes! Our old-age financial planning has always had the #1 objective of having as close to £0 left at the end as we can. Not sure why anyone curbs spending when younger, just to curb it some more in retirement.

Why would anyone stay in a business generating a 1% return on capital as this farmer claims he’s earning? Why not just sell up, invest in 10 year gilts, and get >£200k/year, guaranteed for a decade? It’s not just IHT is it? Farmers get showered with subsidies as well.

Is Edinburgh’s problem a heavy reliance on income from foreign students + fee payers from rest of UK? And has ScotGov assumed this will continue when setting funding levels for Scottish students?

However, many (all?) the advertisers who ditched X will soon reallocate budget to it, so long as Musk has Donald’s (healed) ear. There are many ways of measuring value. I suspect Musk’s preference is for financial, and proximity to Trump is likely to drive that.

No chance. More likely? Round up/tag people. Evidence? Biggest private US prison co (which does tagging) was best performing share on Wednesday. Up 40%+ apparently
