The Trump regime expands its discouraged (BANNED) words across federal agencies. The list is long Gift article www.nytimes.com/interactive/...

Anyone who thinks the fascism isn't real should read this article thoroughly. www.reuters.com/legal/trump-...

Hey, Black Alliance for Peace, before you lecture anyone on global struggles... Where the hell have you been for persecuted Ethiopians? Let’s talk about your appalling nonsense over Ukraine and failure to step up for persecuted Amhara. My latest article: jeffpropulsion.substack.com/p/screw-the-...

Trump doesn’t care what the courts decide. And he’s counting on the naïve and the foolish to bet their hopes on the “last guardrail of democracy.” My latest article on Substack. jeffpropulsion.substack.com/p/betting-on...

A reminder to all that the author of this "analysis," Zecharias Zelalem, helped peddle the worst lies sold by the Tigray People's Liberation Front (the TPLF) during its war on Ethiopia from late 2020 to 2022. ecfr.eu/publication/...

The boycott is strong and getting stronger every day.

The same party that shouted that Obama was a liar and booed Biden during their formal addresses to Congress is now worried about people disrespecting the president with crossed arms.

I got my politics from my Scottish granny. She wouldn't be surprised for a second that "King" Charles would throw us under the bus to placate Trump. I have enormous respect for our Governor-General. As for the tawdry family living in Buckingham Palace? Canada will defend our own interests.

i am reading an analysis of john yoo’s work justifying unilateral presidential authority over foreign affairs when he was in the bush OLC, and i am once again struck by shoddy dishonesty of his output! he moves as close as you can to just making stuff up without fully crossing the line.

Let’s see if the Germans have the spine to actually do something about it. I certainly hope they do.

In future generations, when your children and grandchildren look back on this moment, they are not going to ask about the price of eggs. They are going to ask you what you did. Not what you felt. Not what you paid. But what you did. And I want to be able to say I did everything I possibly could.

"It’s no coincidence—and how incredibly stupid, how excruciatingly ironic—that AI is let in, allowed to infect our society while the West does all it can to block vulnerable human beings from finding safe harbor." My latest on Substack. jeffpropulsion.substack.com/p/ai-and-fas...

Just signed.

Ohhhh, this is so not good.

Seems to me if ICE really wanted to do mass immigration raids they’d go to the factory farms, not urban areas such as Chicago. But mass raids on factory farms would likely put our nation’s food production to a halt, so I guess this is more a fear and optics game.

Thank you! My profession is writing, and the LAST thing I need is a 2025 "Clippy" intruding into my work. Can't people see what is going on? If we surrender to this crap, we lose the very tools we need to articulate dissent!

Reading Rahul Bhatia's The New India and came across this brilliant phrase that needs to be quoted again and again because it works for well beyond his homeland: "...It was a time when people read into everything but books."

I’m learning that once again NYU has gone off the rails and suspended a group of students for a year for nonviolent protest on Dec 11th. We see this is as part of the same oppressive apparatus that supports genocide, suppresses resistance, and destroys institutions of critical knowledge production

Best news of the week so far.

This is why I don't worry too much about an American invasion. I sincerely believe if we painted arrows up to the face of a mountain like Bugs Bunny does in the cartoons, the U.S. military would slam into the Rockies, and the threat would be over.

So, I read this and realize it's drivel -- well written, yes, but still nonsense -- with right-wing dread of immigrants and identity politics. Then you're reminded: "Sean Speer... served as a senior economic adviser to Prime Minister Stephen Harper." Of course, he did. 🙄 thehub.ca/2025/01/06/s...

The sales pitch goes way back. In the 1960s and 70s, thanks to my father, there were copies of Popular Mechanics and Popular Electronics lying around the house which often had covers peddling the "cities of the future," always with the flying cars and Blade Runner urban planning minus the rain.

When I was an undergrad a long time ago, I took a history course with a famous (now dead) Russian studies professor. He was that kind of brilliant, rambly lecturer whose asides eventually became the whole subject of the lecture. He bounced around the stage gleeful and chaotic.

The editor of a smaller publisher has sent me a nice, polite rejection telling me my book on journalism that argues right in the Introduction that there's no such thing as objectivity "doesn’t seem to have been approached in an entirely objective manner." 🤣🤣🤣 #amquerying

I joined Bluesky as an alternative from the slime pervading Elon's X but it appears the more opportunistic cretins want to move in here. Anyone else getting unwanted followers who are obvious catfish idiots or bots? Anything one can do here besides blocking them?

The AAA celebrating Zecharias Zelalem is a slap in the face to those who lived through the TPLF war and those who remember his contemptible behavior. My latest article. jeffpropulsion.substack.com/p/theres-for...

Good. Gawd. "Hey, see that window? I smashed that one! Oh, look, that's where we attacked that cop!" The U.S. was already certifiably insane, but this is off the Richter scale.

A very good analysis here by Ms. Lautman, and I dread what the next couple of months will hold for Ukraine while Trump abandons it. History doesn't repeat but it can rhyme, and this is like watching the betrayals of vulnerable nations in the 1930s.

A favorite target of those trying to undermine Ethiopian culture is Haile Selassie. Fortunately, it’s easy to set the record straight. Another new article to help fight lies and false narratives about Ethiopia. jeffpropulsion.substack.com/p/ethiopian-...
