DOGE in practice: Disabled Army veteran who has 4 kids and did 3 tours overseas is fired from his job at Bronx VA hospital

By law, they agree to protect their passwords and access

JD Vance owns AcreTrader, an app that lets wealthy—often foreign—investors buy up U.S. farmland. Guess who’s deliberately tanking farm economies so JD and his billionaire tech buddies can scoop it up for pennies. civileats.com/2024/09/18/j...

Firings are happening right now at the National Science Foundation. Essential staff are being cut. This isn’t about the budget. If it was, they’d be going after the military (17%) or state appropriations (38%). NSF is 0.7% of the federal budget. All federal employees make up only 4% of the budget.

Attorney General Pam Bondi disbanded an FBI task force investigating foreign influence operations, including those targeting U.S. elections. Additionally, she restricted enforcement actions against individuals who fail to disclose lobbying on behalf of foreign governments.

A political action committee backed by billionaire Elon Musk has scheduled hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of TV ads in Wisconsin this week.

Let me speak to the DOGE audit language. Many people who work in both the Treasury and specifically the IRS are CPAs. Most audit firms hire CPAs. A 19yo coder has absolutely no idea how to accurately identify waste or fraud. Calling what DOGE is doing as a audit, is a flat out lie.

If you wanted to cut waste, fraud, and abuse, you would empower the inspectors general. If you wanted more waste, fraud, and abuse, you would fire them.

A main pipe burst outside my house and flooded my apartment right after Christmas and I'm still dealing with it. And that was just a little water.

Imagine you have over $400 billion and you spend your time working to deny hungry children around the world meals to avoid starvation.

If you’re not confirmed by the Senate then you have no business meddling in the lives of MILLIONS of Americans We are suing DOGE for violating the constitution & illegally seizing power I’ll discuss tonight @ 8PM ET on @insidewithpsaki.msnbc.com 👇 statedemocracydefenders.org/fund/new-law...

I just got a report that a terminated employee from another agency got their job back after replying to the termination email with their good perf appraisal. If you are still connected, might as well try. It makes for good documentation if nothing else. Let me know. So far only this one anecdote.

The very first thing he did was a Nazi salute.

Federal workers are being laid off through the weekend. I’ve been in back-to-back calls with people told to clear their desks. I spoke to someone today with MS in rural Oregon who has no idea what other job he can do. He expects more people to be laid off tomorrow, on Presidents’ Day.

This is what happens when you have absolutely no comprehension of history, boys and girls.

Just wonderful writing on the 60 Minutes piece on President aMusk dismantling of USAID "The world's richest man cut off aid for the world's poorest people." Well done.

CARTOON OF THE DAY

Captures it perfectly.

Him being a recoverying drug addict is the least of my concern although IV heroine is one of the worst of the worst. The anti-vax, the brain worms, and the driving around with a dead bear cub are all way more concerning imo. He overall is concerning ...

I'm so grateful for our Judiciary.

1/29: First plane crash in 16 years in DC 1/31: Crash in Philly 2/5: Delta flight struck in Seattle 2/6: Flight wrecks in Alaska 2/10: Crash in Scottsdale 2/12: Military jet crashes in San Diego 2/16: Crash in Covington, GA 7 crashes since the WH congratulated itself for “restoring aviation safety”

You cannot determine whether you saved or cost money based solely on one side of the ledger. Example: I saved my household $2K by not paying the mortgage.

Meanwhile, people who pose as liberals are sometimes, in fact, not.

I've been really stresssed out lately. I feel powerless against what's happening in our government. I can't catch a break and it's really frustrating.

Letters went out to federal workers this morning stating they were fired due to poor performance. However, all employees had been rated as “exceptional” performers by their supervisors. Please keep these records and pursue wrongful termination claims. Let the lawsuits begin.

You can't blame people for being scared especially when the Constitution or law hasn't been enforced. We are all counting on the Judicial branch.

My red congressman sent a letter in response to one of my calls and it's just as condescending as I expected it would be. So guess what I'm gonna do. I'M GOING TO CALL AGAIN. And again. And again. AND I'm going to campaign for his opponent.

SCOOP: Dozens of workers at the Consumer Finance Protection Bureau have been fired in an after-hours blitz. The emails they received were not even personalized.

This is what is happening to us Feds. We are normal.people who, like you, just want to dona honest days work, put food on the table and a roof over our heads. WE ARE NOT YOUR ENEMY. We are your neighbors, friends, family.

Trump once again oddly refuses to confirm or deny that he's speaking with Putin (he clearly is)

When tyranny becomes law, rebellion becomes duty.

NEW: The Office of Personnel Management notifies Judge O'Toole that it is in the process of notifying more than two million federal workers that the deadline for choosing "deferred resignation" has been indefinitely delayed. www.courtlistener.com/docket/69610...

“No American can be proud of a govt that carries out change in this way. Neither can these actions be rationalized by discussion of past grievances or appeals to efficiency. Everything can be more efficient, but adherence to the rule of law is paramount” www.americanbar.org/news/abanews...

It’s no secret that Chair Powell and I disagree on a lot, but today we agreed: without the CFPB, there is no federal regulator making sure giants banks don't cheat you.

"Persons who make private determinations of the law and refuse to obey an order generally risk criminal contempt even if the order is ultimately ruled incorrect." --SCOTUS (1975)

BREAKING: In response to doctors' lawsuit, Judge John Bates, a George W. Bush appointee, orders CDC, NIH, and FDA to put back up websites and datasets cited by the doctors in their lawsuit as having been relied upon and pulled down without notice. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

my view is that as soon as the administration froze disbursement of congressional appropriations we entered constitutional crisis territory

Stress playing a game after being sick most of January is not my idea of a great start

I'm going to post this video every day so we never forget what Trump did.

When social media exposes traditional media’s deceit, it’s time for independent journalists to investigate why the press is backing a president who undermines free press—and is it coordinated?
