This. Committing to a rules based order includes committing to the rules of diplomacy. You threaten annexation and start a trade war? You ambassador is getting the heave ho.

Do you mean the "state" or "government"?

Yep. I don't think even most well-informed people understand what a turning point into full-court-press insane this is.

After transiting through CDG as a disabled person I realized it may tie with Pearson (YYZ) for worst G20 airport ever... but you just reminded me of the Frankfurt experience, which is bad enough on a good day, so it may be a three way tie!

oh nooooooo. yeah it sucks. It happened about 10 weeks ago. I am only just this past week starting to graduate out of the walking boot cast. A very humbling injury with extremely long re-hab timelines. I am really sad abt how it has sidelined my sabbatical research & conference plans

Ironically, I'm on 2 roundtables: 1 abt confronting violence as a feminist IR scholar & 1 abt contemporary Canadian foreign policy. My injury has already put my attendance in question, but now after this latest bullshit from Trump I am almost certain to withdraw.... anyone else feeling similarly?

Had to talk several otherwise well-informed, well-read loved ones off the ledge abt how prorogation & Trudeau's upcoming resignation does NOT mean 'we have no PM' or that 'nothing is getting done' in gov't right now. And the media is NOT doing its job to inform and educate on these matters. At all.

It's amazing what can happen when nobody knows how their own country's democratic and governing systems work. Almost like a mandatory .5 credit of high school civics is by design, or something.
