I see you’re sticking to your guns despite many MANY reasonable explanations about why bikers do this.

When you say respiration consumes it at the same rate, what does that mean?

I don’t, but would cutting them very close to flush with a sawzall with a hack blade get them low enough? I have a decent sawzall and a buncha blades.

I second the mention of any of William Sullivan’s books.

Even better, get yourself some Microspikes from Kahtoola. Or even a knockoff of those. In my experience (extensive) they grip better, stay on better, and last longer. nextadventure.net/products/sno...
