Someone on Threads noticed you can type any random sentence into Google, then add “meaning” afterwards, and you’ll get an AI explanation of a famous idiom or phrase you just made up. Here is mine

The Trump administration is crippling tax enforcement and going to make it dramatically easier for business owners to cheat. www.slowboring.com/p/trump-is-c...

Elected and appointed officials in America are actually questioning the merits of Due Process. Just needs pointing out where we are. Shocking.

CEO of The Federalist is opening calling on Trump to defy the Supreme Court.

We must dissolve the Supreme Court and give Donald Trump unlimited powers. Or else we will have a dictatorship.

DHL will stop shipping any item worth more than $800 to USA - starting tomorrow until further notice - thanks to Trump over-regulation of trade. www.bbc.com/news/article...

Alito: The Supreme Court. made a horrible mistake. Technically, the law does say rights and due process, but that results in less of the overt cruelty I was enjoying on my television, which means the Court should’ve found delays and loopholes for the govt to deny those rights in practice. I dissent.

The US went from concern that China’s Belt-Road initiative was making gains in Africa, to ceding the world’s fastest-growing continent to China by pulling out the State Dept and cancelling various initiatives. This from the White House that says the top international priority is outcompeting China.

This is an enormous theft—not just privatizing a government function with a worse and more expensive for-profit substitute, but also a massive government financial data heist—and on the other side of it everyone needs to end up broke and imprisoned to deter them and others from doing it again.

Personally, I think it should be front page news for at least a month if a sitting US President is using falsified evidence to try and deny due process to a man who has committed no crime, but that’s just me

this is such good news. i think it is also an opportunity for democrats to state forthrightly that when they win power again everyone responsible for this crime will be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law and will face the american people to answer for their lawlessness

This is the good stuff, written for all Americans and not just for legal elites. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

Gonna be wild if David Brooks is the first journalist thrown in prison.

There's a lot of more "exciting" stuff happening in the federal government, but I think it's important not to lose track of the ongoing GOP reconciliation bill that is going to hurt millions of poor families and blow out the budget deficit. www.slowboring.com/p/dont-ignor...

If you're keeping track of the long list of things this admin's done that flies in the face of MAHA, censoring and ultimately losing the top intramural nutrition scientist studying food processing and health is definitely towards the top.

Please repeat over and over: “Bending to the whims of a bully will not end his cruelty. It will only embolden him. The response to authoritarianism isn’t acquiescence. Bullies respond to one thing, and one thing only: a punch in the face.” —Gov. JB Pritzker

Interest rates rising Stocks falling Economic growth falling The Fed not cutting Inflation likely rising again It's hard to imagine one person creating a worse economic situation this quickly

Speaking now from El Salvador, Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) says he was denied access to Kilmar Abrego Garcia by El Salvador leaders. And was denied a phone call to him Van Hollen: "The Trump Administration is lying about Abrego Garcia"

NEW: Trump has reportedly urged Congress to authorize $175 billion for border security, more than 10x what was spent in his first term. Meanwhile, border residents in Texas and Arizona say their basic needs — like safe drinking water and hospital access — aren’t being met. W/ @texastribune.org

People cheer at Marjorie Taylor Greene's town hall as a protester is tazed. Now we know how the Nazis got into power.

Steve Kerr wore a Harvard basketball shirt after the Warriors’ win tonight: “Yes, this is me supporting Harvard. Way to go. Way to stand up to the bully.”

Trump ends promising cancer research. USA! USA! “Two patients’ treatments using the experimental therapy had to be delayed because NIH’s capacity to make personalized cell therapies has been slowed by the firing of highly skilled staff..." www.washingtonpost.com/science/2025...

The DOJ lawyer who made the mistake of answering the court's questions about Abrego-Garcia candidly (eg yes he was mistakenly deported, a fact the Administration already has acknowledged), which got him put on administrative leave, has now been fired, ending his 15-year DOJ career..

Abrego Garcia's wife: "I will not stop fighting until I see my husband alive. Kilmar, if you can hear me, stay strong. God hasn't forgotten about you. Our children are asking when you will come home ... they miss their dad so much."

Oh dear you’re going to want to read this. Looks like DOGErs were caught exfiltrating NLRB data, likely on unions, for private (seemingly Elony) use. This is must read. What we’ve all suspected. But now details. www.npr.org/2025/04/15/n...

DOOCY: Deporting American citizens to Central American prisons -- is it legal? LEAVITT: Well, it's another question that the president has raised. It's a legal question that the president is looking into.

WaPo op-ed: Colleges and universities are among America’s most competitive international exporters. In dollar terms, last year, the United States sold more educational services to the rest of the world than it sold in natural gas and coal combined. wapo.st/4luJyph

New from me at Cato: with yesterday's developments in the Abrego Garcia case, it becomes clear that Donald Trump aims to create an offshore zone in which persons of his choosing can be whisked out of the U.S. and stripped of all constitutional rights, "beyond the writ of" the federal courts. /1

We've reached the point in our descent into fascism where the Jewish governor's house getting firebombed on Passover by a guy trying to bash his head in with a sledgehammer is overshadowed by the story of the President saying he wants to build foreign gulags for US citizens.

The feds under Trump are going to reenact Nicholas Katzenbach's confrontation with George Wallace standing in the door of the University of Alabama in 1963...only this time the feds are going to arrest the blue state governor and the cause will not be racial justice, but racist mass deportation.

Looks like the Trump administration is now making a concerted effort to publicly portray Kilmar Abrego Garcia as a human trafficker and terrorist, despite not making any of these claims in court. Tom Homan: "Karoline Leavitt is exactly right... he is an MS-15 gang member based on our intelligence."

I don’t think a better headline could have been written about what happened yesterday. www.rollingstone.com/politics/pol...

If the U.S. government is going to take the position that, once removed from the United States, folks can’t be brought back, then it sure seems to me that federal courts should be reflexively and categorically barring *all* removals until they’re 100 percent certain that the removals are lawful.

He’s threatening media companies who are critical of him. He’s talking about sending Americans to foreign prisons. He’s signing executive orders to investigate former staff members who spoke out against him. He’s defying the Supreme Court. Don’t you see what’s happening here?

Trump is asked about Putin’s Palm Sunday Massacre bombing of civilians. He repeats Kremlin propaganda that it was just a “targeting error”, because when Putin speaks that is the position of the president. Trump: “They made a mistake.”

Again: it is supposed to be commonly accepted non partisan morality that “id rather let a hundred guilty men go free than imprison one who was innocent” but this administration and its party are gleefully inverting that premise and then some

You don’t understand, Peter. It will take to September to rewrite all of medical evidence, science and history.

Producing articles like this is at the heart of the conservative project. They've had most of the political and economic power in this country for some time. But not being validated by liberal institutions has been intolerable. They want to be seen as interesting and desirable more than anything.

Learning Resources employs about 500 people, most of them in the United States. It had planned to hire more this year to keep up with its fast-growing business, but has now abandoned some of those plans. “We’re being asphyxiated by our very own government,” he said. www.nytimes.com/2025/04/13/u...
