Congrats! (One more is on the way)

True! My main goal is to show how the concepts of hedonism/eudaimonism moved from philosophy to psychology and the problematic conceptual shift they went through With pleasure! I'm not even sure the ideas I'm developing here are that relevant, but I'll send you something once it looks good enough

Thanks, Erik, for the paper and the additional information! They are helpful. I'm writing a paper about the demarcation between eudaimonic, hedonic, and subjective WB in psych, and a short section is dedicated to the history of subjective WB. So your paper is spot on!

It’s also useful to check for conceptual papers within their field and whether they are widely cited. Additionally, I would defend that a solid understanding of methodologies and statistics in the science of interest is important for distinguishing between well-conducted and flawed studies

Imho, a good approach is to start by examining systematic literature reviews and recent meta-analyses, as they provide a comprehensive overview of the current state of knowledge, debates, and consensus. Handbook chapters can also be valuable, though they tend to be more partial.

Oh, indeed! Thanks for the reference. It was developed five years before the Cantril self-anchoring scale! That's indeed unfortunate it is still used. Such a bad tool

The oldest one I know is the Cantril Ladder (1965), which is still commonly used (and it was even included in the seminal paper testing the SWLS in 1985!) 2/2 #philsci #philsky #PsychSciSky #socialpsych

Editors are scammers, but open access fees are like the ULTIMATE scam. It's crazy. Why not publish a preprint of your paper on arXiv to avoid paying the fees yourself? So that the paper may be behind a paywall once accepted, but people can still read the preprint.

Congratulations! As someone who plans to apply for a grant to conduct cross-cultural studies, this article is of special interest.

I don't know what to choose, it's all darkness but from different perspectives: Video game: Omori Movie: Requiem for a Dream Animated movie: Grave of the Fireflies Novel: Demons (Dostoevsky)

I agree, the law of attraction is truly flabbergasting. I wonder if it actually influences people to act in a certain way or if it merely serves as a justification for their behaviors, or perhaps both. It seems to be the dominant happiness pseudoscience among privileged white people

“Although, adherence was higher among registered reports than among unreviewed preregistrations, it is alarming that overall only 16% of articles fully adhered to their preregistration or fully disclosed all deviations from their preregistration.” #MetaSci #OpenScience #Methodology 🧪
