Those men were haunted to the end. I had a conversation with a professor about travel once and he said, "I'd love to see more places but planes scare me." I later learned from his colleague that he'd captained a B-17 through 25 missions over Germany. The experience kept him permanently grounded.

I visited Omaha Beach a couple of years ago and saw how close the bluffs were to the soldiers landing on the beaches. Seems miraculous any survived. The best part was seeing the American cemetery. The deep green grass with perfectly white crosses, contrasted by the blue ocean in the background...

To win the presidency in the current era, you need to appeal to a sliver of non-college white voters in a handful of swing states. I don't see Pete doing that...

You're forgetting the Democrat's version of "Unstoppable Glen Walker," our governor Gavin Newsome.

Trump will pay them all lip service, but he'll be backing Don Jr 100%, and his minions will buy in completely...

The results of 2024 confirmed for me that the first woman president of the US will be a republican. Democratic women, even competent, well liked governors and senators from red states, will be hard pressed to get enough non-college white voters in that sliver of swing states to make a difference...

This guy makes it sound like Fox and ESPN are simpleton conference commissioners. If you're in P5 conference,THEY OWN YOU. They tell you you're playing an 11 pm game in Rekjavek because of a Golden Girls special and you do it.

Did they really need to include the Star of David/hammer and sickle? I would hope on the paste up board they at least wrestled with whether they should include it or not...

Francis eschewed the red silk slippers worn by Benedict and other Popes for black $50 Florsheim oxfords. You get the sense that will be Leo's choice of footwear as well...

Keep an eye on EWTN, the right-wingnut media arm of American Catholicism. If Leo continues Francis's reforms, they will push themselves more into the white evangelical camp and start talking about the need for a schism...

Also the Maryknolls. Most wear no priestly vestments, lucky to find one with a cross or rosary in their pocket, which lets them live stealthily in dangerous missions. Wouldn't be surprised to find out some are adept with firearms and explosives ...
