Here is my #oped in the @inquirer.com online today, publishing in the paper on Sunday. "I will not stand idly by while the Trump administration destroys the scientific foundation that keeps this country and its citizens healthy and safe." www.inquirer.com/opinion/comm...

Today was a good day to stand shoulder to shoulder with coworkers in six unions across the university and the health system speaking out for the rights of all members of our community

Proud of @aaup-penn.bsky.social and allies organizing this!! www.cbsnews.com/amp/philadel...

Gods I love a long petition 💋

So excited to have heard from @johngreensbluesky.bsky.social as part of the Authors@Wharton talks - as a future #scicomm person I would LOVE to chat about the need for public investment in science. Everything in your talk about tuberculosis today was SPOT ON!

My 1st op-ed with Devin Burris & Mark Bray (@mark531.bsky.social)! We look at how Trump’s funding cuts/changes to scientific resesrch threaten American biomedical research for small institutions & young scientists. Feedback/comments welcome! #scicomm markbraywrites.medium.com/the-goal-of-...

NIH is the best investment there is. www.forbes.com/sites/michae...

We call for the immediate release of former Columbia University grad student Mahmoud Kahlil, a legal permanent resident of the US. His abduction is an assault not only on basic immigration law but on our 1st Amendment protections of freedom of speech & assembly. www.aaup.org/news/aaup-co...

Paywall free news! But please do subscribe to some of these pubs if you find yourself reading and rereading their stuff. @wired.com @rollingstone.com @statnews.com @sciam.bsky.social many others are good to support.

Our work is far from done—science is still under attack. We’ve got ideas, but we want to hear from you. What’s worrying you most? What should we do next? How can we grow this movement together? Fill out this quick form to share your thoughts & stay connected: forms.gle/7EEQMZUveXN9...

NIH is abruptly terminating at least 33 research grants for projects studying why some people are hesitant to receive vaccines or evaluating strategies that could encourage vaccine uptake. scim.ag/4how23i

Huge turnout at #standupforscience Philadelphia! Science is for everyone.

Sad to NOT see @upenn.edu on this list. Do not comply preemptively!!

What do we do when science is under attack? Stand up, fight back! Philly understood the assignment: two thousand people showed up at the March for Science today! whyy.org/articles/phi...

Some pics from Philly’s #standupforscience event yesterday.

Video from Stand Up for Science rally yesterday in Philly. Call your officials, tell them that the NIH must remain fully funded and funds must be awarded to a wide-range of research to keep us on the forefront of innovation, medical advancement, and economic success in science-related industries.

Everyone posting #StandUpForScience and #StandUpForScience2025, please remember to be inclusive and use alt text so everyone can enjoy access to your awesome protest signs

As #DisabledInSTEM, I benefitted from the NSF GRFP as I entered graduate school knowing I would have funding. As someone with a disability, it can be difficult to find a lab and a PI who is willing to spend so much money on you. With my own funding, came independence. #StandUpForScience2025

The journalists at the DP once again had great coverage of the Stand Up For Science rally in Philly yesterday www.thedp.com/article/2025...

300 folks showed up for @standupforscience.bsky.social in Missoula on Friday, not bad! #StandupforScience

It takes a lot to rile up scientists. Opposition to this administration's actions is growing by the day. Snow didn't stop Madison's #MarchForScience

First and foremost, an incredible THANK YOU to everyone who has supported Stand Up for Science—whether you attended our events, donated, shared, or volunteered. We are so humbled by how many people showed up to support us & all of the passion that people brought with them.

Yes. Journalists should note this: Every science or tech student, age 5-35 today, is looking at the destruction of their career prospects due to Trump and Musk. We should be interviewing those students and talking about the impact to their lives.

A really thoughtfully written guest column in the DP at Penn from one of our speakers at yesterday’s rally and their colleague. www.thedp.com/article/2025...?

My full speech from the Philly @standupforscience.bsky.social rally is linked below. "Just two days ago my wife was diagnosed with breast cancer —and as scary as those words are to hear, we are optimistic - and do you want to know why we are optimistic…because of science." youtu.be/ctCx6HWWeQg?...

One of the most powerful moments of the day came from Emily Whitehead who told the story of how she was the first pediatric patient to receive CAR T-cell therapy for her leukemia at age 5: “I stand up for science because science saved my life. And that’s a fact.” @standupforscience.bsky.social

@maddow.msnbc.com about the Philly #StandUpForScience rally: “Look at this, I mean this is impressive!…Look at that, that’s a really big protest.” 🙌 @amandastherrien.bsky.social @dramandar.bsky.social @brookedl.bsky.social www.msnbc.com/rachel-maddo...

Given the platform, I wanted to make sure I used it well & clearly articulated my message: "Thru anti-DEI & anti-trans executive orders & laws, the administration seeks to restore hierarchies centered around race & gender, resegregating America. A textbook example of fascism." tinyurl.com/3bvrf6nn

@carolynbertozzi.bskyverified.social speaks at San Francisco’s “Stand Up for Science” rally!

The Philly Rally was GREAT!!! Time magazine coverage of the Stand Up For Science Rally in Washington, PHILADELPHIA, and other cities across the nation. time.com/7265775/rese...

Higher ed workers from GETUP-UAW, AAUP-Penn, and more are out with allies across Philly at City Hall today to speak out and STAND UP FOR SCIENCE!

Thank you for covering today’s #standupforscience2025 rally! 💖 This is the only local/national news media coverage I’ve seen (although the @inquirer.com paywall sucks, but that’s not your fault). It’s a damn shame to not see more coverage.

My speech for the Philly #StandUpForScience Protest. Everything I do is for my community 💜✨

Thanks to everyone who stood up for science today. We are estimating a few thousand people attended!

"A recent survey showed that more than 99% of new drug approvals depended in some way on #NIH research. 99%! So industry also has a lot to lose if the federal investment is damaged. By the way, it would be good to hear more about that from pharmaceutical company leaders." - FC #standupforscience2025

I love my union ❤️

#StandUpForScience Science not silence!

Forgive the video quality - I’m short and holding a sign at the same time. 😅 @sarahmackattack.bsky.social reminds us it our DUTY to break unethical laws, rules, mandates, etc. ❤️‍🔥 #standupforscience2025 #standupforsciencephilly @standupforscience.bsky.social

Had the honor of speaking at today’s @standupforscience.bsky.social rally in Philly. I spoke about the importance of breaking the right rules and harnessing chaos for the greater good.
