Thanks @ezralevin.bsky.social for your work - and this post. I just got around to watching the Schumer interview and couldn't agree more. Recommend everyone watch it and yours too!

4/3 Honestly, if the Trump admin does something it will be unexpected and egregious (more than usual). I'm saying this ahead of something potentially happening, just to refer back to this thread.
I hope that I am wrong and nothing happens.

Yes, the Trump admin wants the Supreme Court to overrule Humphrey’s Executor, allowing him to fire anyone he wants. But it already teed up test cases that give SCOTUS the chance to do that! The DC Circuit heard two today. This assault on the FTC is a gratuitous flaunting of power he doesn’t have.

It's like they are trying to mobilize their base. Next they'll be weaponizing Boasberg's "unelected-ness."

3/3 That could happen at any point in the next 24 hours and it doesn't necessarily spell bad news for markets. Beyond that how Powell and gang speak about the economy and tariffs, in particular, is going to be scrutinized with intensity.
Should be an interesting day.

2/3 I guess I'm saying it's hard to rely on an obvious rate pause being fully priced in anymore.
Trump has made it clear since the start of his term that he wants rate cuts. That's not going to happen soon - so I could see Trump doing or saying something to throw markets into chaos tomorrow anyway.

Wow that's cool! I would be really curious to hear his thoughts on how businesses are adapting to mitigate the supply chain challenges, specifically as they pertain to tariffs between Canada and the U.S.? Also, what has surprised him most?

Great distinction here between the Kremlin and White House readouts from Jacqui Heinrich of Fox News. Also, in any case, if it wasn't obvious to anyone that this was going to happen Russia is violating this "ceasefire."

Is Schumer this dense, really? He took money and everyone knows it. Congressional corruption is endemic.

This is true! Just 3 hours after a energy infrastructure "ceasefire" was "agreed" to. What a sham.

Surrounding Trump with "yes men," in his second term has made this abundantly clear. I often wonder if it's this same predictable "chaos" that makes him such an ideal target to foreign influence.

Nothing from the U.S. side (and I'm skeptical on this) but, according to Iranian officials; Iranian fighter jets intercepted a U.S. Surveillance aircraft patrolling over international waters of the Persian Gulf today.

The U.S. has continued strikes in Yemen and the IAF has hit targets just outside of Damascus, Syria. Working to confirm a rumor.

As you may know, the President has ultimate authority in declassifying documents, however, now that he holds the power of the purse over intelligence agencies.
This give intelligence agencies less incentive and less power to resist executive declassification orders.

I realize this could be a strategically typical, first thing Monday morning move but, the urgency here once again has the spidey senses going.

The President no longer needs congressional approval (House and Senate Intelligence Committees) to issue directives to Intelligence Agencies.
He was only given this power on Friday.

With little congressional oversight and few legal paths (subpoenas?). For Intelligence Operations ongoing or NEW there are very few checks and balances.
The bulk of this oversight now lies with Inspector Generals (John Travolta looking side to side) and whistleblowers. For classified operations.

The bill made 50 U.S.C. § 3094(a)(1) unenforceable.
Essentially; Intelligence funding used to require congressional oversight BEFORE being spent. Meaning congress had to approve why and how much money was spent. Now it's spend first, ask questions later (if at all).
