$20 at CVS. Pay in cash and make calls (to a reporter, say) that are totally untraceable. You can also take photos of documents or emails and text them. Just make sure to buy your minutes in cash too.

Another Texas bill that has no chance of passing, but its wild what the fringe is putting out there. Literally makes it "fraud" to be trans.

There's nothing on this table that anyone reading this probably doesn't already know, but let's just call it a reminder.

Enormous loss, wow

Confirmed—internal BOP memo we obtained said 6 trans women and 1 trans man who had not been named as plaintiffs were still slated for transfer. My source described Trump admin officials at DOJ as "relentlessly on this mission." www.themarshallproject.org/2025/02/21/t...

BREAKING—A federal judge has ordered the federal prison system to STOP the transfers of 12 transgender women to men's prisons. The remaining 10 trans women housed in women's facilities but not named as plaintiffs in the suit are still at risk of transfer. www.courtlistener.com/docket/69593...

Trump administration officials appear to have seized on a tiny wording change in a judge's order to begin arrangements to transfer transgender women—even post-operative women—to men's prisons. www.themarshallproject.org/2025/02/21/t...

In 2022, after years of legal battles, Donna Langan became the first federal prisoner to receive gender confirmation surgery. Now she’s learned that the Trump administration plans to move her to a men’s facility. www.themarshallproject.org/2025/02/21/t... by @journo-beth.bsky.social

Earlier this month, a federal judge sided against the Trump administration, and ordered the federal prison system NOT to enforce Trump's executive order attacking transgender people. www.themarshallproject.org/2025/02/11/t...

38-year-old Ramel Powell died at Rikers Island today. His is the first death there in 2025, but the the 34th death in city custody since Eric Adams was mayor (per UJC). No details have been released about why or how he died or who he was, but he deserved better. gothamist.com/news/rikers-...

Is someone you know or love currently detained by ICE in a Bureau of Prisons facility? Please call/text/message! Phone: 212-803-5273 Signal: beth.93

Are you a CO or line staff (case manager, nurse, etc) at a BOP facility that now has an influx of ICE detainees? Call/text/message! Phone: 212-803-5273 Signal: beth.93

In a new filing in his case, Jacob Wideman, the man whose case we chronicled in VIOLATION, argues that "this is now the umpteenth time Wideman has had to seek judicial relief from the numerous due process violations committed by the State in their efforts to reincarcerate him"..

Congrats to my @propublica.org colleagues Kavitha Surana, Lizzie Presser, Cassandra Jaramillo and the unsung editors behind the work, Ziva Branstetter, Kit Rachlis and the great Alex Zayas !!! www.propublica.org/atpropublica...

Trump's federal hiring freeze means the Bureau of Prisons is losing 82 full-time mental health clinicians who were set to begin their training in the fall. As one CO told me, mental health supports are "our front line," key to running safe facilities.

If you have friends or loved ones who are trans and currently incarcerated in the federal bureau of prisons, can you ask them to call me or send me a corrlinks request? [email protected] 917-843-2064 Thank you!

BREAKING: Federal judge temporarily blocks Trump administration from implementing anti-trans Trump orders that would stop trans-related medical care in federal prisons and lead to trans inmates’ transfers. This followed a hearing in DC earlier today. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

Everyone concerned about data loss right now should learn about the End of Term Web Archive, which I believe has been working on preserving federal websites for the past 8 months. The dataset you fear has been lost may well be here Just an incredible project. Thank you to everyone involved

The FBI’s core values, including integrity, compassion, fairness, and allegiance to the Constitution - and oh, yeah, diversity, are being painted over at the FBI Academy. Source: NYT.

I've noticed lately that several prison and jail systems now require "verification" before you can send e-messages to people. One jail in CA wants your DOB, the last 4 of your SSN, *and* a photo of your drivers license, which is to say, your home address.

Correctional staff in the federal bureau of prisons (among other federal law enforcement employees) are now authorized to act as immigration agents. immpolicytracking.org/policies/dhs...

Meet Grace Pinson. Serving 21 years in men's prisons, she has been beaten, sexually assaulted, locked for years in solitary confinement, including in the "supermax" in Colorado. She has had to fight for the most basic accommodations, like women's underwear. www.themarshallproject.org/2024/10/09/t...

Among the many executive orders Trump signed on his first day in office, his attack on transgender people could affect people's access to safe(r) housing and gender-affirming care. www.themarshallproject.org/2025/01/23/t...

That journalist joy when you're introduced to a source whose job title would make any normal human's eyes glaze over but who, to you, is an absolutely solid gold source of inside information and your little nerd heart goes pitter-pat.

We've always said no one is above the law, even as we've known cynically this isn't really true. Now a federal judge has literally announced it in federal court.
