The economists looking at the data in September 2025 will note the Recession started on January 20, 2025.

Beautiful! I am sorry it tore. I too am looking for a paper with good wet strength. I made try Tyvek. There are also some mulberry papers that may work. In terms of drying, you may have to lay them flat with a fan going until they’re damp enough to hang dry.

Maybe spend some time talking to your neighbors about the situation and be there for them as a trusted advisor when their eyes open to the fact that votes have consequences.

If I had a green card I would not be traveling outside the US for the next 4 years. Heck, at the rate things are going, I’m not even sure US passport holders will be allowed out of or back into the US.

The fact that this cycle is running counter-clockwise is really bothering me.

Stay focused on the tax revenue their visit will bring to the nation’s capital - the most Democratic voting place in the US! That is how I cope.

There is tons to do in DC that doesn’t involve standing around for 6+ hours in bitter cold watching a Jumbotron half-a-mile from the Capitol. Explore our parks, neighborhoods, museums off the Mall, & more! I hope these visitors make some lemonade out of the lemon their grifter-in-chief gave them.

This perspective about typing makes me sad. It implies that writers who type are machinists and not artists and by extension, for example, quilters are sewing machines and carpenters are toolboxes. Creators use tools of all kinds and their use of tools does not diminish their creativity.

This building looks like someone took a child’s drawing and made it real. No aesthetic unity of materials, no balance or synergy among visual elements, and little engagement with the surroundings.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I found the arc of the thefts at first daring, then strategic, but as time went on increasingly risky and slapdash, then performative, and finally pathetic and meaningless. It left me hoping these crimes could not happen at this scale of selfishness ever again.

“Look for the helpers” is wise advice for everyone. We all need help at some point with something - taller people to help shorter people reach something, faster people to help slower get things done, hands-free people to help hands-full not drop things, etc… unless your 42yo friend is a dick.

I had the opportunity to speak at an event and my presentation was illustrated in real time by an artist. The end result shared after my 45 minute talk ended was amazing - key points listed, examples illustrated with figures/symbols, arrows designating the flow of the talk & more. Audience delighted

Reminds me of the sea turtle and frog carvings in the stairwell at Liberty’s in London.

It wouldn’t take much to have a better high speed rail network than the US. 😔

Omg - this house is in my husband’s hometown. I have walked by this house hundreds of times and never once suspected it contained the bizarre decor within. It might be worth taking it down to the studs again and starting over. Yikes.

I hope these soldiers could fight better than they could copy/paste.

I am thoroughly enjoying “Prisoners of the Castle : An Epic Story of Survival and Escape from Colditz, the Nazis' Fortress Prison” by Ben MacIntyre.

This is the kind of discussion I am here for. And as a clarinet player, I agree it is an excellent weapon. In addition, when fitted in its case, that case packs a punch, and clarinet is playable post-punch-up based on my experience.

With roof it would get greater usage year round. Event audiences would adapt to a greener future. Taylor swift might play next time.

I want to see the current RFK complex re-built as a mixed use residential-retail/office and parks as gateway to the River area. What if a Nats Park sized Footballer arena with retractable roof (41,000 capacity) was built there without parking acreage? WMATA & bikeshare could handle it.
