I must have walked by this fence hundreds of times but today I noticed that the posts are crowned with little snail sculptures of varying sizes and poses.

I love these details! Someone posted a thread recently about decorate fish mouths as the outlets on downspouts - would love to see more artistry in these things instead of the boring, utilitarian schlock being built today.
Since a lot of you seem to like snails, here's a snail joke: This guy is at home one day and the doorbell rings. He opens the door but all he sees is a snail on the front step. "Weird," he thinks, and kicks the snail into the yard. (1/2)
Three years later, the doorbell rings again and the guy answers. The snail is on the doorstep again and says "What the fuck did you do that for?" (2/2)
A giraffe and an elephant are at a waterhole. A turtle walks up and the elephant swings his trunk and knocks the turtle across the waterhole. "Why did you do that?" the giraffe asks. "50 years ago that turtle bit my trunk". "How do you know it is the same turtle?" "I have turtle recall."
Emerson said that if you want to see something new, walk the same way every day. This is both literally and figuratively true, and honestly one of the most profound pieces of advice I've heard for having a rich, happy life.
This reminds me that I recently learned of the existence of hinge heads. Magnetic ornaments that stick to the top or bottom of your door hinges, of which snails are a popular design.
Hello form South Australia. Your snail popped up in my feed, I saw your name and thought “I wonder if that is the same person who wrote that book I loved”, & Yes!, it is 😃🥰
Hello Celeste.
Thanks for “Everything I never told you”… so heartbreakingly beautiful.
Have a wonderful day and I hope you continue to enjoy your writing, you have the knack 😉🥰
I worked with a half-French guy whose grandfather living ins France was an escargot farmer. It was a relaxing job since all year round was the slow season.
I used to have a racing snail. I thought that if I removed his shell, it would make him faster. But it didn't. If anything, it just made him more sluggish.
Beautiful art on that fence! It's nice to see that you paused long enough to notice those snails this time. Mindful observations place your focus right there, in the moment, and that's healthy for you. I have a mindfulness page. Check it out and follow?
This statue was seen by my husband and I for what we think was the first time on NYE, she over looks Plymouth Harbor and the Mayflower. We are Cape Codders, we go to Plymouth all the time in the summer, but cannot recall ever seeing it. I can understand missing little snails.
They are a snail establishment a slow establishment, either they kill snails and eat them or they are a place and rest home for slow old people, either way, it should be vegan. #vegan #veganmemes @veganhashtag.bsky.social
Isn't it amazing how the little things can catch our attention when we least expect it? Those snail sculptures sound adorable and a beautiful reminder to appreciate the details in our surroundings. It’s moments like this that truly add charm to our everyday lives! 🐌✨
These small things have been eradicated by "developers" and their "value engineers" (value?? really??). As a result, the endless tracts of bland, built-on-the-cheap suburban tracts & strip malls are devoid of charm, durability and humanity.
Every time I see a little detail on a building etc., I think about how the people making it didn't HAVE to do that, but they took the trouble just to make it pretty.

He speeds past a cop car. And one cop says to his partner…
…
“Did you see that ‘S’ car go?”
We deserve delight, we deserve care.
It’s not too much to ask.
So many are soulless.
Taxes well spent. Raise people's spirit.
It’s about our better and best aspects & nature…
Because we can, we should.

This lil' snail is such a delight🥺✨🐌
They were placed for that very reason.

I remember Oliver Sacks saying how much he missed the iron work fences that were turned into weapons in WWII.
