Yes! Given our current environment we should definitely give government more power over what food we can buy! MAHA!
comment in response to
post
Yeah. Going to a grocery store and then needing to make a separate stop a mile away to buy whiskey was a true utopia.

Now imagine Eric Adams being in charge of the publicly owned grocery stores and decided to fill the shelves with MAHA approved foods.

I haven't locked my home schooled kids in a dog crate (it's too small) but at the same time, they haven't been terrorized by active shooter drills or imprisoned in their classroom during lockdowns caused by threats. Get out and meet some homeschool families and challenge your thinking!

Why does the president need to call on the Senate to vote on something? They could just take the initiative and pass a bill if they really feel strongly about it.

Matt 7:21 - 23 should be chilling to everyone who calls themselves Christians. Basically Jesus says you will enter the kingdom of heaven by doing the will of "my Father" and those who don't, even though they do miracles in Jesus's name, he will say, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’"

We need a third camp which is "BE POPULAR AND WIN AN ELECTION!"
comment in response to
post
That last sentence. You forgot to say "...for the country."
comment in response to
post
It means take popular positions and WIN! If R's win again, it's an existential problem for our constitutional government. With that as motivation, the Democrats need to act accordingly. Learn from the pro-Gaza folks that voted for Trump because Dems didn't give them everything. They got nothing.

The answer really is the left sold the snake oil to the right. The left made a lot of snake oil. Anti-vaxxers in Marin County, raw milk, RFK Jr.'s whole schtick, to name a few of the things that were left coded. Crazy to hear right wing nutters praising things they used to mock.

I don't know all the Poli Sci rationale and stuff, but we could start here, "..establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity..."

Your point would carry more heft if you were honest about Democratic president abuses as well. Like Obama's extra-judicial killing al-Awlaki. There are no angels. That is why we need a strong Congress who gives a full throated defense of the Constitution.

In Bellingham a friend who delivers bread to retailers, including Costco, says his sales are down 10%, likely due to reduced Canadian traffic.

I live in an area in the US where the local economy depends on Canadians shopping here to escape higher consumption taxes and generally higher retail prices. I was driving in Canada today and was struck that I may be shopping in Canada now to avoid the US tariffs. Our local economy will not flourish
