I wondered that ever since the 12th of September 2001. The war on terror unleashed the US pain over 9/11 as anger, putting an at best irresponsible and at worst abusive world police at display. This undermined the ideals of rules based world order, and encouraged criminal states to challenge it.

8/ Without solid security guarantees, like NATO or US boots on the ground - the war cannot be stopped. Paper guarantees from the US hold little value, as the Budapest Memorandum has already shown. If Europe is expected to provide Ukraine’s security, why should Ukraine make a deal with the US at all?

The number one problem, seen from the outside as non-US resident. I have a hard time thinking of any issue related to the US that is neither caused nor exacerbated by money in politics.
