I don’t know why I’m surprised that there were two places with the same business model in central Florida. Truly God’s country. www.gainesville.com/story/news/2...

Bronson Motor Speedway in Levy County. I think they shut it down in the early 2010s. They also had boat and trailer races and blindfolded driver races. No idea how there weren’t constant serious injuries.

There used to be a track just south of Gainesville that did figure 8 bus racing. Feels like that could make a comeback.

Just drew out an SEC high speed rail network, and it turns out it would actually be mostly pretty practical from a population center standpoint

Trump can’t suspend the constitution, because I already did that this morning. Because “suspending the constitution” is something we equally have the ability to do. This is just Michael Scott “I declare bankruptcy” nonsense.

Also, not for nothing, he’s still misunderstanding how tariffs get paid. It’s “us vs them” only in the sense that we would be punishing ourselves in a way that also makes things worse for them.

My dad fought in some of the worst battles of ww2 but never wanted to talk about it until the end of his life. Probably nothing to be learned from that.

Coping by thinking of the more entertaining ways I could have blown the amount I’ve lost in the market in 48 hours. So many jet skis.

My wife before 40, and I’m down to one. I don’t know if it’s weirdly uncommon or if we’re just sensitive to it. Seems like middle age might be a time that other people’s elderly parents loom large and come up in conversation a lot.

What memory of a child’s laughter or beautiful sunset did my brain delete to make room for remembering that reference?

I bought a bike from a guy who put his arm out bump forearms. Never encountered this greeting so shook his elbow. Still thinking about it 15 years later.

My dad was at the surrender ceremony in Tokyo Bay and never stopped talking shit about how long MacArthur spent posing for pictures when getting out his car. It was his chief memory of the event.

I think the supporting column of “run government like a business” is that most people don’t actually know how either of those things are run.
