#WinRozario should be alive. He was safe at home until NYPD arrived. Within 2 minutes, Officers Alongi & Cianfrocco tased and shot Win at least 5 times. Join us with Win's family + DRUM for a vigil on Thursday 4/3 to honor Win's life & to demand the cops be fired now!

We're 1 of 50 orgs sending a letter to @nypdpc.bsky.social @mayorsoffice.nyc.gov urging them to #FireJonathanRivera for #AllanFeliz. To say we are disappointed they did not meet the family’s 3/31 deadline is a gross understatement. It’s past time for Rivera to be fired! Full letter: buff.ly/9qlefE3

#AllanFeliz was unarmed when Lt. Rivera assaulted, tased + shot him in the chest in 2019. Both the NYC CCRB & the NYPD’s discipline judge recommend he be fired but instead he was promoted! Enough is enough—Commissioner Tisch + Mayor Adams do the right thing: #FireJonathanRivera by March 31!

I wrote a book about bureaucratic violence and if there’s one thing I wish everyone knew right now, it would be: The people most harmed can’t tell what’s happening or why. Their lives unravel and, more often than not, they are taught to blame themselves—or other victims.

oh this is a big mystery

“we have to be able to commit war crimes to win wars” is the type of thing a 16-year-old dumbass says and — well, yeah, hegseth is basically a 16-year-old dumbass

getting what done? he's not doing anything.

The way people keep escalating this fight is inspiring.

If you’re a professor in a classroom today & you don’t mention this, I believe you’re doing your students a profound disservice. This is targeted 1st at international students, but it’s deliberately broad enough to lay groundwork for a scene Trump & Hegseth have fantasized: troops on campus.

Happy #fthismoviefest day to all who celebrate!!!🎉 I’m so sad to miss this year but we are moving this weekend 👀🚚💨

Many people seem to think that certain things 'aren't enough' and so either don't do anything or are discouraged. To me, this is part of a learned helplessness AND also part of all or nothing thinking [very USian]. Doing small things ALL OF THE TIME is better than one big thing one time [maybe].+

On Tuesday, 21 DOGE employees resigned. NPR spoke to one of them who says she felt the new administration was causing "harm to the American people."

AOC says a bill to limit the power of middlemen in the pharmaceutical industry that had almost unanimous support fell apart after Elon Musk tweeted against it. "It killed drug pricing reform that would save people money on their insulin, on their asthma inhalers — everything that they need.”

More measles cases in the U.S, this time in Kentucky and New Jersey. Officials say they don’t believe they’re linked to the Texas outbreak, but stress the importance of vaccination. Remember if you get measles, it can wipe out previous vaccines & immunity. Respirators work well too!

guess Jeff Bezos got tired of being overshadowed by Musk and Zuck and needed to remind us all that he is also an evil piece of shit whose very existence is a stain on humanity

2018: "Kavanaugh's not going to overturn ABORTION why are you so upset about this appointment JEEZ ugh so hysterical" They coming for birth control, they coming for no-fault divorce, they coming for Loving vs VA, they coming for ALL OF IT

Pack your body bags. It's going to be ONE HELL OF A SUMMER in theaters on April 4. Finn Wolfhard co-wrote and co-directed the summer camp slasher throwback.

aint no way we cut medicaid and housing assistance so jeff bezos could buy this shirt

Texas measles outbreak is up to 124 cases & US just had their first measles death in ten years. RFK Jr is spinning this as “not unusual”, but it absolutely is. Sadly it may not be unusual in the years to come. Get your vaccines. Wear a mask. An N95 or better offers excellent measles protection:

The first measles death in the US in a decade -- the tragic, preventable death of a child whose parents chose not to protect them with vaccination -- should spark an immediate nation-wide campaign to ensure all children are protected against preventable diseases. Anything less is unconscionable.

If you’re not vaccinated for measles, now is the time. If you’re unsure, talk to your doctor about getting a titre check. Masks work well against measles, N95 or better! Mask up to protect yourself, your community and the most vulnerable around you.

Gonna keep stressing that you should take advantage of every possible opportunity you can to gather with others over the next few years. These can be virtual and/or in person. Go to events, protests, workshops, meetings. Enhance your organizing skills and practice them how you can.

If we are not disabled, we are temporarily able-bodied. Disability protections protect all of us.

There's something that @adriennemareebrown.bsky.social regularly says which is that you don't need to live in someone else's imagination. I think that it's so important to hold on to this. Work to create the world YOU want to live in rather than to succumb to the one designed by your enemy.

Good for these federal workers, concerned about the sabotage of a functioning, safe park, for us and for nature. www.sfchronicle.com/outdoors/art...

Sending an email to employees asking them to list five things they did that week is a classic move from a manager who has no idea how to manage

Here are some nice mushrooms

Mike Flanagan (The Haunting of Hill House, Midnight Mass, Doctor Sleep) is writing a Clayface movie for DC, and Eden Lake director James Watkins has been enlisted to direct:

“the United States is not a startup. The federal government exists to do all of the things that are definitionally not profitable, that serve the public good rather than protect investor profits. (The vast majority of startups also fail, something the United States cannot afford to do.)”

This spring, FANGORIA pays tribute to one of the most visionary filmmakers of all time - David Lynch. Though Lynch’s film work spanned (and defied) genres, his dark visions over the years – from ERASERHEAD to BLUE VELVET to LOST HIGHWAY and beyond – have left an indelible imprint on our readers.

these mass firings are going to be a generationally defining event in ways we are not even vaguely prepared to deal with. in addition to the decimation of the infrastructure needed for so many things to function, the personal and familial level impact of these actions is gonna ricochet

According to Franking Frías, executive director of Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières in Mexico and Central America, the humanitarian organization has been treating between 40 to 50 people a week in Mexico City. via @prismreports.org

“No Kings Day” protest in New York City resulting in thousands of anti-Trump & anti-Musk demonstrators — too many for NYPD to corral on the sidewalk or enforce against.

This book is so good and so helpful.

TOMORROW Feb 18: Now that NYPD Deputy Commissioner of Trials says Lt. Rivera has to go, join us at One Police Plaza to demand Mayor Adams and NYPD Commissioner Tisch follow her rec and #FireJonathanRivera immediately. The family of #AllanFeliz has been fighting for over 5 years - no more delays!

Go there faster.

In today’s episode, with RFK confirmed, hearings for Bhattacharya and Makary loom. We speak with @joho.bsky.social about their records on the pandemic, their cries of “censorship,” and what disasters await with health agencies under their watch and RFK at the helm www.patreon.com/posts/122511...

let me strongly recommend the flu shot to whoever hasn't gotten one for this season. i just had a *terrible* bout with the flu that almost certainly would have been WAY worse had i not been vaccinated

you don't actually know what will "work." It's OK to admit this and to move with consciousness of this.

The phenomenon of “leftist language policing” is 99% a product of centrists whining about it constantly. I almost never encounter it in real life and requests for vocabulary updates are typically non-binding guidelines for formal written documents.

In my city there is one cybertruck and one DIY parody of a cybertruck and the parody truck has become a local celebrity. Meanwhile, I always wish I had some rotten eggs to throw at the tesla whenever I see it.
