If it’s true that Trump wasn’t briefed on four missing — presumed dead — soldiers in a Lithuania, someone needs to be fired. There’s not much higher on the priority list than MIA soldiers. Whoever dropped the ball there is failing POTUS in an inexcusable way.

One year after the Francis Scott Key Bridge collapse, we remember the lives lost and the families forever changed. We also recognize the impact this tragedy had on our supply chains and communities. My heart remains with our neighbors in Maryland as they continue to heal, recover, and rebuild.

Whatever happened to the "5 things " DoGe emails ? Talked to someone really smart who just left gov, who said all the emails bounced back as inbox full. Already forgotten Typical Ready Fire Aim

21 State Attorneys General are urging America’s legal community to stand together in defense of the rule of law. We must not falter in our resolve to uphold the U.S. Constitution and the rule of law. Our democracy depends on it. oag.ca.gov/news/press-r...

“I insist on being shocked. I am never going to become immune. I think that’s a kind of failure to see so much of it that you die inside. I want to be surprised and shocked every time.” ― Toni Morrison

114 years ago, 146 workers, most of whom were young immigrant women, lost their lives in the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire.   New York honors their memories, and we will keep fighting to defend workers' rights and ensure their safety on the job.

So it turns out Pete Hegseth lied. And Michael Waltz lied. And Tulsi Gabbard lied. And also lied to Congress while under oath. And John Ratliffe lied. And also lied to Congress while under oath. And as ever Jeffrey Goldberg and the Atlantic were telling the truth. This is why journalism matters.

Man goes to the doctor, says he's depressed. Says life seems harsh and cruel. Says he feels all alone in a threatening world where what lies ahead is vague and uncertain. Doctor says, 'yeah we don't really do anything about that anymore

Not to be a wide-eyed naïf about such things but... am I right in thinking that they levelled an entire building to get to one guy and *that* is not controversial to anyone in the American media or political class, only that this information was recklessly shared in an unsecured chat?

Teen Warned Not To Accept Group Chat Invites From National Security Advisors She Doesn’t Know

My take has always been that any constitution, laws, political norms of decency and respect, have always been aspirational, and can be exposed as such by determined would-be autocrats with power. Just luck some countries haven’t faced such an extreme test before. (Reposted for typo.)

It is so degrading to be a member of the galactic council of lightworkers and be forced to do the dishes

In addition to her 11 hour testimony on Benghazi, 3 committees held hearings on Hillary Clinton’s email servers. I wonder how many hearings will address the latest breach of war plans?

this stuff is happening across the country and even more intensively downstream of the veterans admin but it's happening in so many places at once and without any public notification that it's still only barely emerging in the news

From a source: “Just had a co-presenter for a buildings research conference bow out. She’s a dual citizen and the FBI came knocking to ask her about her involvement in coauthoring chunks of the Paris Agreement. Climate science is being literally (and I mean literally) criminalized.”

A good reason to get out there and protest now is that it will serve as a rehearsal for when we'll need massive people power in the streets to fight off the imposition of a MAGA dictatorship. The courts aren't going to be enough to stop these people. We'll need you, your family and your friends.

If the Supreme Court ultimately agrees with what the gov't is arguing today, that the President has broad Article II powers that would permit it to deport people & there can be no judicial review, then literally no one is safe.

People need to be crystal clear about something: The requirement that the government ANSWER to a court on the legal basis for detaining someone is literally the core liberty right (habeas corpus). If the government says they don’t have to do that bc “national security,” YOU can be disappeared.

I am honestly puzzled by people who talk about the next election as a solution to what we are facing. Like there will be any good choices if there is one; I doubt there will be one.

How is this prediction going so far?

The libertarian critique of democracy didn’t just fail—it became the blueprint for the next authoritarian state. Musk. Thiel. Yarvin. Srinivasan. They’re not debating democracy. They’re replacing it.

Understand that this El Salvador gulag deportation was done partly in order to make the fascist video that the president now transmits, with his fascist message. The cameras are all set up in advance.

Snyder is right. We are less safe when they are lawless.

If you let the executive deport people to a foreign gulag just by pronouncing the word “terrorism,” then expect to be called a “terrorist” soon yourself.

You don’t know who we just disappeared to El Salvador. Think about that.

Even the Libertarians are starting to get it.

Why does a US president try to destroy the US federal government, the US economy and the US international alliances???

🚨 A year ago, I wrote a review of Erik Larson's "In the Garden of Beasts," an account of the US Ambassador to Germany's tenure there in the early-mid 30s. I shared lessons from the account that feel more relevant now than ever. Here is a snippet of them: 1/

What's funny about Tesla: their still-huge share price isn't just about cars. It's predicated in part on the idea that Tesla's Optimus robots will sell by the billions and do household chores for people. But who could possibly now think people will want Elon's robots in their homes?

one great mystery of our age is how the only way to motivate rich people to work is to give them loads of money for no reason but the only way to motivate poor people to work is to take away loads of their money for no reason

If Musk and his Technoboyz can't stop a cyber attack at X, maybe they shouldn't have access to our Social Security? Just brainstorming.

According to Rachel Maddow, the Trump administration is cutting funding for the sterilizing of instruments for surgery at all VA hospitals, taking our military back to Civil War levels of safe medical care.
