increasingly convinced that DOGE isn't so much an office of the white house or a federal advisory committee as much as it is a criminal organization in the RICO sense

On a daily basis, I marvel at how many people in putative positions of power are willing to help obliterate American democracy. The US has faced a series of very easy moral tests in the past decade and it’s staggering how often people in once-respected positions have failed.

Reminder that "cultural Marxism" is a literal white supremacist conspiracy theory. Like literal nazi shit.

Le Monde reporting that a French scientist traveling to Houston to attend a conference was denied entry to US after a search of his phone & computer revealed messages critical of Trump's science cuts, "which [says CPB] conveyed hatred of Trump & could be qualified as terrorism". Computer confiscated

~20% of the public voting for a president doesn't give him unchecked arbitrary power, and, importantly, even 100% of the public voting for him doesn't give him that power

yeah, i mean, if they can do this it's not clear to me there are any rules

SCOOP: Before the IRS fired nearly 7,000 probationary employees, a senior lawyer raised the alarm that: - the terminations contained "false" information - they amounted to a "fraud" on the US judicial system Don't miss this @propublica.org exclusive: www.propublica.org/article/trum...

The premise here, just to spell it out, is that no black person, woman, queer person, etc., has EVER genuinely accomplished something. Every time it ever seemed like they had, it was just white people virtue-signaling by using them as tokens or whatever Or in other words that they're natural slaves

The Trump administration cut a clause from federal contracting rules that had been on the books since the 1960s: Companies are no longer explicitly prohibited from having segregated facilities

NEW: Minnesota Republican state Senator Justin Eichorn, co-author of the "Trump Derangement Syndrome" bill that just made headlines, was arrested yesterday in Bloomington for allegedly soliciting sex with a 16-year-old girl. minnesotareformer.com/2025/03/18/g...

The richest man in the world and de-facto co-president is giving Nazi salutes, why are we still hearing about poorly worded signs at campus protests

From a source: “Just had a co-presenter for a buildings research conference bow out. She’s a dual citizen and the FBI came knocking to ask her about her involvement in coauthoring chunks of the Paris Agreement. Climate science is being literally (and I mean literally) criminalized.”

Totally agree with this. Flying a person to a third country that they may never have been to, directly into a prison where they are going to be forced to do hard labor, is not a deportation; it's something else entirely.

Netanyahu has not allowed any food, water, or fuel into Gaza in two weeks. Now he has resumed bombing, killing hundreds of people and breaking the ceasefire that had given Gaza a chance to live again. NO MORE MILITARY AID TO ISRAEL.

UNREAL. ICE implies in a sworn declaration that MOST of the Venezuelans sentenced to hard labor in a brutal Central American prison without charge or trial or so much as a cursory hearing had never been convicted or even charged with ANY CRIME whatsoever, not even a trivial one, anywhere, ever!

I'm just saying..

to be clear, USIP staff spoke to MPD prior and then called them to report DOGE as trespassers and when the cops showed up they instead held the door open for Musk’s thugs.

When I wrote my camps book, people sometimes had difficulty understanding how concentration-camp regimes were proud of what they were doing and wanted attention for it, even as they also hoped to keep many aspects secret and terrorize vulnerable classes. Anyway, this is what that looks like.

Chilling details from a lawsuit against DOGE by USADF about how much of a lie DOGE's "IT modernization" is (the best way to describe it is if someone comes from the cable company and then says because he's in your house, he's allowed to do a home invasion) storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

For those folks who have been waiting to climb the pole and ring the “constitutional crisis” bell, it would appear we have arrived. Neither Judge Sorokin nor Judge Boasberg believed that he was signing a meaningless order, and both judges demanded compliance that never came.

People need to be crystal clear about something: The requirement that the government ANSWER to a court on the legal basis for detaining someone is literally the core liberty right (habeas corpus). If the government says they don’t have to do that bc “national security,” YOU can be disappeared.

Hi, I'm the guy who used to oversee the federal government's agency IT telecommunications contracts. This is extremely bad. There is absolutely no need for this. Not only is it a huge security exposure, but the simplest explanation for this is that it is meant to be a security exposure.

I hope John Roberts is really enjoying all the respect that his rulings have generated for the judicial branch. I know lower court judges must *love* the new attitude they’re getting from Trump’s folks

Millions of Americans — especially seniors, small businesses, and rural communities — rely daily on USPS's affordable rates and universal service. Privatization would make the mail more expensive and less reliable — all to enrich the billionaire class. We cannot let it happen.

I mean.

"But I'm a citizen," you say. "This doesn't apply to me." It's a pretty short step from deporting lawful residents without due process to "show me your papers, you don't LOOK like a real American to ME" on the street.

oh this is a big mystery

Everyone involved in arguing this at DOJ should be disbarred, that's the first step to "what do we do to fix this"

The Department of Justice was created in 1870 with an explicit mission to protect civil rights and enforce the 13th, 14th and 15th Amendments. The DOJ went after the Klan hard, securing thousands of indictments and 600+ convictions within the first year alone. How about restoring *that* focus?

I know this first hand. When I was a child, my entire community was branded as spies and sabateurs, justifying our internment inside barbed wire camps for years without due process, trial or charge.

This isn't anti-DEI - it's retelling history as a story with only white men in it. The tale of the Navajo Code Talkers is essential to understanding the Allies' victory in WWII. Removing it because the people involved were non-white is segregationism.

The America First movement was led by Nazi sympathizers. If it was up to Trump’s predecessors, the Nazis would have won.

This is sovereign citizen bullshit. A judge's order is a judge's order. Verbal or written, blue ink or black ink, gold fringe on the flag or not, none of that matters.

They claim they can snatch people up, put them on planes, and deport them to a country run by an authoritarian, where those people will be forced to work slave labor at an inhumane prison. All without due process, and in defiance of federal courts. The hypotheticals are over. This is the nightmare.

“The first people a dictator puts in jail after a coup are the writers, the teachers, the librarians —because these people are dangerous. They have enough vocabulary to recognize injustice and to speak out loudly about it. Let us have the courage to go on being dangerous people.” —Madeleine L’Engle

🚨BREAKING: It seems very clear that the Administration decided not to abide by the court's order. The question now is what will the judge do. Does he proceed with contempt or something short of that to defuse. Upping the stakes is the fact that the AG and her senior staff signed this notice.

This is not rocket science, Dems. Identify the victims of Trumpism, give them a voice, and get their stories told.

"I don't care what the judges think" seems like the kind of statement that would piss off a judge

Here’s the thing we need to reckon with: the US is undergoing a form of regime change. The Trump regime does not consider themselves bound by the constitution, the rights of citizens, or the will of the people. Across society, we must reckon with what living in this new regime means for us.

Thousands of US Department of Agriculture employees, including food inspectors and disease-sniffing dog trainers, remain out of work, leaving food to rot in ports and pests to proliferate.

The reality here is very simple: Trump thinks there is no limit on his power, that he can spend money how he likes, jail who he likes, rule by fiat, criminalize criticism of himself. He is breaking the law and ignoring the Constitution. And we can either acknowledge that or keep pretending he isn’t.

Fox News is now displaying photos of judges who rule against Trump while hosts and Republicans attack them live on air

The saddest and most pathetic thing about American fascism is that we’re losing control of our society to a group of men who do not understand or appreciate what makes life worth living. They are not only anti-American—in that that refuse all of our core principles—but anti-human. They are husks.

ok but if none of those dumb motherfuckers had ever gotten close to power maybe we wouldn't need a 400 page report or a donation fund because the program wouldn't have been cut off by some EA prick who thought PEPFAR might interfere with birthing Robot Jesus

i am sorry for her but i hope this guy never has a moment of peace or happiness for the rest of his life. no amount of misery is more than he deserves. fuck these scum.

for a week or so during the election Vance was reminded by interviewers that he had once compared his running mate Donald Trump to Hitler. Vance assured us that he had changed his mind - but really seems like he changed his mind about Hitler, not Trump

Looks like we've got a cure for sickle cell. www.cbsnews.com/newyork/news...

This is white supremacist, great replacement Nazi shit coming out of the mouth of the U.S. vice president.
