“We have progressive populism at home”, etc

It’s a centrist’s attempt to take control of a populist movement. We should just do actual progressive populism

Same. Since it’s not physical violence people write it off, but it absolutely can be traumatic and part of a larger pattern of emotional abuse.

Can’t add anything substantive to this convo but I’ve seen this phenomenon analogized to a mountain. We see boulders falling off the mountain; we see rivers eroding stones that had been there for centuries. What we don’t see are the tectonic forces that continually push the whole mountain higher

There’s a kind of logic there that I can understand on a certain level, but also I’m incredibly sensitive to sound and I Do Not Want To Go To Jail

No, quite the opposite actually. There’s actually no such thing as feeling “like a girl”, tbh. Some girls’ emotions change a lot on HRT, some not at all. But we’re all still women/femmes. Just because you’re not crying at commercials for laundry detergent doesn’t mean you’re a failed woman.

A lot of it is because pre-transition our emotions are repressed, and also testosterone can transmute what could be sadness into rage or anger. But I still don’t really cry at all on E; it’s gone from “never” to “once every couple months”

I had one flirtation with the 9–10 end of the scale and it was such a profound experience I think it’s what finally convinced me to transition

iirc hospital staff only care that the number goes down after the administration of treatment. the true intensity of pain is incommunicable qualia and so the scale is a crude instrument to grok if the drugs are working

It’s bioidentical—my body might just not be vibing with it right now. If the choice is between my mental health and going up a cup size, as much as I hate to admit it I don’t think I’m willing to make that trade :p

I’m doubtful it’s even true for chatbots, since hand-coded ones are programmed to say “I don’t know” instead of lying and hallucinating.

It sounds like you have a lot of interesting things to say about what these movies mean to you and how they make you feel—maybe that's a good starting place?
