The CBO needs to do a study that gives a closure likelihood for every hospital in the US. For those not expected to close, project the % cost increase needed to cover fixed costs.
This is going to devastate rural hospitals. They don’t have enough patients to stay open especially in poorer states.

Not directly. NASA gave SpaceX a $3 billion contract for a Starship based lunar lander that is 3 years behind schedule. Cost overruns are the responsibility of SpaceX. Musk claims we’ll see Starship make a moon landing in 2026 but they have so many hurdles I doubt we see a landing before 2030.

That’s not how the DoJ is supposed to work. The President appoints someone and after that the AG has the freedom to charge as they think the law dictates. The President shouldn’t be involved. Hindsight tells us Biden made a mistake in his choice but after confirmation it’s all on Garland.

“I believe we need to get our fiscal house in order.”
The bill reduces revenue by $4 trillion by giving tax cuts to millionaires.
Do these people get special training so they can tell lies like this with a straight face? Most of these sock puppets know it will harm the country and don’t care.

As a Browns fan, the thing I want most in 2025 is to see a classic Nick Chubb cutback. It was sad watching in 2024 & seeing his knee couldn’t do what it did in the past. If anyone can rehab to full health it’s Nick and I will be watching Texans games hoping we’ll see a glimpse of his old self.

Republicans ignore history as Trump pushes the executive branch towards dictatorship. What happens when the next bad economic downturn occurs? Do they think it impossible people won’t switch sides to someone promising to use Trump’s methods against them? Their cowardice weakens democracy either way.

Republicans fought universal health care by fear mongering about death panels. Meanwhile insurance companies by design are death panels with a profit motive.

With one single act Cory undoes all the goodwill gained from his speech. Most of these books are bought by media pundits and political organizations as a payola circlejerk known as Washington politics. It’s how many politicians afford second and third houses and people are tired of the dishonest BS

That’s not true. US taxpayers fronted SoaceX $3 billion for a Starship lunar lander that is now 3+ years behind schedule. The truth is Starship is another 2 years away from an unmanned moon landing and that assumes they can figure out orbital refueling along with a dozen other major hurdles.

Most Democratic speeches are more airbrushed than a Kari Lake campaign ad. Until the Dems get real, they will never be trusted. That is true of many who consistently vote for them in recent years.

Better yet, fire all the consultants and nominate people willing stand up for their beliefs even if some disagree with the party line. You know you’ve done something wrong when Trump’s off the cuff lies seem more genuine than most Democratic speeches. Stand for something and lead. It’s not hard.

It takes time for these things to work through the system. Millions of small decisions are being made by businesses as Lutnick spouts this nonsense. Some will end up as price increases. Some of the cost companies will have to absorb. But every decision will hurt a consumer or a business.

If you only vote for candidates with a perfect voting records according to your standards, then the Dems will have about 10 members in Congress. Waiting for perfection is the enemy of actually getting things done.

I feel the same about Joe as I do RBG. Great legacy thrown away by the hubris of not knowing when to step away. RBG’s legacy is the reversal of Roe. Joe’s is ensuring Trump got a second term. The Republicans are ultimately to blame but the Dems need to stop ignoring hard truths to spare feelings.

Republicans scream about the need for deep cuts in spending to balance the budget. This would have more merit if they weren’t spending twice as much in tax cuts for millionaires. People will tighten their belt if everyone shares in the pain but right now rural America is being played for suckers.

This is true of politicians too - many voters prefer Trump’s blunt talk even with lies and half truths vs. legalese that hopes to never offend anyone. The Dems need more Bernie’s, Jasmine’s, and Pete’s if they want to win back America. We may not understand facts but we know fake.

It’s like we’ve forgotten that it was in interruption in supply chains that caused the inflation in 2021-2. Of course MAGA never learned it because they wanted to scapegoat Biden. The truth is even if Trump reversed course now, we’ll still see an inflationary spike.

When are reporters going to ask this type of questions to Trump himself? I’m so tired of hearing him lie and they never challenge him. His interviews are lie lie lie lie lie lie lie lie… moving to the next topic lie lie lie lie lie.

The Supreme Court has ruled line item vetoes are unconstitutional. This is a more egregious offense as it’s being done after the bill was passed. The president is required by law to execute the budget passed by Congress. To blatantly ignore their express wishes is an impeachable offense.

That's never going to happen as the games powers will want the championship game to move around. The semi's on the other hand need to be played on New Years Day in the Rose Bowl and Sugar Bowl. Play the first two rounds at home stadiums. It's way too obvious.

Trump has committed enough illegalities the House could impeach him for a dozen excesses with good cause. But the only thing that will push them is if the Republicans in Congress see his numbers among their base drop to George BushJr levels. The odds are low because the delusion is high.

Prices never go down (at least not all the way down). Once businesses see consumers are willing to pay a higher price, they want to keep it there even when their costs go down. It's a well known phenomenon learned in a basic economics course. Unfortunately 47 skipped that class.

That’s still overvalued by any sane metric. If it was valued like a car company it would be $30.

They can stand against the DCCC. The purpose of that organization is to send the same tired old people back to the House, year after year, until they drop dead. Until the Democrats allow an easier path to bold outside thinkers they’ll never become the broad tent party they need to be to thrive.

Me either. Val was great in so many roles. I’m sure many people will be watching Tombstone or The Doors but for me Real Genius has always been a guilty pleasure. He carried the film and looked to be having a lot of fun in every scene. That wasn’t always true as his career progressed.

I know the AG tried to stop him from doing it and courts refused to step in. But now that he’s paid the money can’t the AG charge him with election interference? The courts were unwilling to step in to prevent a hypothetical, but now that he’s done it, why not prosecute?

Bluesky needs to attract a broad audience to succeed. Leaders not only in politics but sports, TV, movies, science, etc need to see this as this place for thoughtful discussion. Entertainment media has been the slowest to move & we cannot discourage the little conversation that does happen.

The next Democratic administration needs to divest itself fully from SoaceX. The United States government and American businesses have a long mutually beneficial relationship but it only works when both sides understand the limit of their power. Abusing that trust means there must be consequences.

The American people voted for Trump and no Republicans in Congress are standing up to the President’s designs. While I wholly disagree with his plans/actions what you are suggesting is treason if implemented. Protest and patience is our only recourse at the moment.

We’ve done this throughout the ‘war on terror’ through multiple administrations and it’s never been okay. It’s a war crime and needs to stop or at the very least the military needs to be given guidelines of when an indiscriminate bombing campaign is permissible.

With this statement, Tulsi has decided to become a part of the coverup and therefore should be added to the list of people who should be fired. One week ago she said -- “Any unauthorized release of classified information is a violation of the law and will be treated as such.”

I don’t think party leaders need to comment on the ‘Biden problem’. They do need to figure out how to make themselves younger. Two House Dems have died in two months and they will not be the last. The party needs to figure out how to unleash the best ideas and not rely so much on seniority.

Reports are SpaceX has burnt through the money the government gave them for the lander and they’ve got massive technical details to work through before refueling in space let alone putting a human inside. I’m sure Elon wants to cancel the moon landing. It’s always been a way to fund Starship.

As Republicans seemingly love to remind people, we live in a Republic not a direct Democracy. The US has checks and balances to ensure minority views are protected and mob rule cannot go too far. Did these extreme right wingers miss civics class?

That was my first CEOs mantra. He was ruthless in cutting costs from the system but always reminded his managers people’s lives were being affected.

Tesla has a long way to fall. If it were valued with a PE ration like other car companies the price would be $20 a share. It’s been propped up by Musk and hopium making it worth more than the 10 biggest car companies combined. A look at their product offering shows their revenue has peaked.

Never said it did. The writers spent the first half of the season making Santos unlikable with questionable motives and Langdon an arrogant yet brilliant doctor. They set us up to have mixed feelings about his dismissal. That feeling will get worse when Langdon isn’t around to help.

I hate it when people take a complex subject and reduce them to a 10 word sound bite. Nuance is impossible when every headline is meant to inflame. The transgender issue needs to be between parents, patient, doctor, and sports orgs. One size does not fit all but both sides scream like it's simple.

It's being valued like a tech stock. If valued like a car company the stock price would be $20 and Elon would be have banks knocking on his door. It's why he's bullying the Tesla board to give him a $50 billion bonus. He argues his name props it up. What happens if his name depresses the stock.

He's got it completely backwards. Most 'real Americans' watch soccer the same way they watch Olymipic sports. Every four years they marvel at the athleticism on display then move on. That's not phony. It's appreciating something performed at a high level that isn't a normal watch.
