“What do you mean ‘there’s no facking chips’? I come here on a plane!. Ignorance is part of my culture.”

I understand your pain. I get why you believe this but it simply isn't true. You can't damn an entire country for a minority of the people in it (the military is a small fraction of the population). You can damn all those fighting and those leading, but not the many civilians powerless to stop it.

Sounds perfectly reasonable to me. I’m here for the long haul.

If you’re American and you come to Britain and pretend to be Canadian, we’ll uncover your ruse and shame you until you leave.

Perhaps we should not take advice from someone who just made up 'White Genocide' and used a misappropriated picture depicting something entirely different from a different country to justify his false claims?

My experience is, for a lot of people, if the science contradicts what they have held as 'common sense' for some time, they will find it easy to dismiss it out of hand. Science is fine as long as it tells them something they want to hear.

Please explain how that is relevant to someone being beaten unconscious for attempting to use a toilet?

I wasn’t suggesting FPTP is undemocratic, merely a flawed system. I was, however, suggesting the UK system of monarchy, house of lords, hereditary peerages and privy council, paired with a two party system and FPTP is undemocratic. Just for contrast to Canada’s.

Indeed, that’s a reasonable standpoint. I’m just cautioning against throwing such talks too far from the table. It’ll be a thorn in your side forever. It’s a massive flaw with the UK’s pseudo-democracy too.

I understand where you are coming from, although FPTP is utter flawed and inherently undemocratic.

Hi Ahmed, I wish I could but I lost my job recently. I will help when I can. Take care and I hope things improve for you soon.

It just seems there are no limits to what form of human being Americans are prepared to vote into office. Those deemed mentally unfit to manage their own affairs still seem like they have a shot at managing a post in US politics...

Yep, we’re fucked.
We are a country of xenophobes.

Anyone in law enforcement who wears a mask is a coward.
Anyone who wears a mask for 'law enforcement' isn't enforcing the law.

It’s fascinating that after running the numbers and plotting the extrapolation, I came to the same conclusion. QED Keir Starmer can fuck off from a great height. Uncanny how well the data fits.

New rules it seems. Corruption is now legal, so go nuts.

Same. I've not used Amazon this year so far and don't intend to. Finding a host of great alternatives. Hive is great for books for example.

Agree, but don't know what to do when it seems our leader and Government tacitly support said terrorist state. The main opposition (and their potential successor) also vocally support Israel. It feels like the UK is lost along with America in a cult which holds ignorance and stupidity as virtues.

You've provided 9 cases there. If there are only nine cases of serious crime involving alleged immigrants, then you have just proven the above statement, not countered it.

You would also see a significant rise in GDP and tax revenue.

That's a fair point. I didn't consider it from that perspective.

It is a small gesture that Reform are making here to say LGBTQ+ people should not be included and are not welcome.
It should be very, very clear to everyone that is the world Reform want for the UK. One everyone must reject on every conceivable level.

Incidentally, Bluesky has now totally levelled up for me! Getting schooled on Tolkien on here is achievement unlocked :)

To be honest, I don't think Tolkien ever really reconciled the matter. He clearly liked the idea of reincarnation but it conflicted with his Catholicism. I think when he was writing LotR he had the idea in mind to have Glorfindel as the same person, but never followed through with it.

Like I’m not a total LotR geek whose online handle for the past 30 years is the Quenyan for ‘ice demon’… rendered into Shavian script because… The layers of oddness appeal to me…

Probably rash saying ‘fact’ there… like “studies have shown”.

It says something terrible about humanity that we can show so much disdain and outright hatred for the single greatest invention in our species' history. Alongside germ theory (only a theory!), nothing has saved more lives or improved our quality of life like vaccinations have.

I’m imposing a 1000% tariff on movies made in America. Instead of paying this ridiculous tax, I’m just going spend the money on other non-American goods and services.
