😂 honestly judging from that dream he needs to do a reality show with him & his family taking over a farm in the Dales or something. Would be hilarious!

Young Rickard is a year 4 teacher, bemoaning lack of quality books to tempt the class - so we delivered these. Apparently a timetable has been drawn up to prevent fights because they will be so popular!

…it to the school event BUT Snoop and his crew encouraged me to make up a rap on the journey. I remembered the first 3 lines when I woke up and made this out of it. Like I said bonkers but one of the best dreams in ages and got me writing soooo… 🤷♀️😂🙈

Had a very bonkers but very very vivid dream that I was chaperoning Harry Styles and Snoop Doggy Dog at school workshops. Snoop never made it to his as he kept taking wrong turns in his fiat panda & we got lost in Yorkshire countryside- I was stressed but he kept telling me to chill. We didn’t make…

You’re so right!! We talk a lot about fiction however non-fiction is just as important. A lot of the children I listen to read love books about history, space, art, trains, cars, football… one young child even loved reading a lot about the Titanic!
They get so much out of these books 🤗

There are so many great books out there! I wish kids could pick their own and if set questions are necessary then do them on the books they love. Might not be practical for teachers to have 30 different books being read though 😂

Choice is a huge thing too. My parents never restricted what I read and my kids don’t necessarily enjoy the books that I do x

…as often we get too busy/tired etc but frequently a child’s attitude on things can be “If you don’t, then why should I?”
Parents reading in front of children is not the only factor but can certainly help :-)

I was the youngest kid in my family. My brothers (who were several years older) would sit around reading Douglas Adams, laughing occasionally, and refusing to tell me what was so funny.
I started reading at age 3. Mom says I taught myself out of sheer frustration.

I remember we had to read Of Mice And Men at school and being forced to read books and how much to read etc always put me off them. Probably why it took me so long to pick up another Steinbeck 😂 Totally addicted to this book now though!

…and can’t put it down!!!
Exposure to books in childhood can shape reading habits in adulthood. Don’t just read to kids - please read in front of them too! 💕💕
