Iā€™ve just been reading a few reviews - theyā€™re all excellent but constant mentions of feeling ill whilst reading, and a sense of increasing existential dreadā€¦..not a beach read Iā€™m thinking šŸ¤£šŸ¤£

Will definitely check it out, thanks!

What was it - sounds interesting! When I say reading is escapism for me, I still tend to read quite dark material, but at least console myself that itā€™s fiction lol!

Ha, donā€™t blame you! I mostly read fiction - itā€™s escapism for me, can barely watch the news or use social media any more, reading is my escape!

I just finished it a month or so ago Kevin and loved it - excellent read!

The point I was arguing against was the blanket statement of ā€œthere are no good HR peopleā€ but that seems to have got lost somewhere so Iā€™ll bow out now.

Thereā€™s probably not much point in a back and forth online with character limitations but Iā€™ll just finish off by saying I think itā€™s utterly ridiculous to deem everyone working in a profession as ā€˜badā€™. Zero nuance or critical thinking.

There to ensure the business acts legally *which is usually in the best interests of employees*. How that makes the entire profession ā€˜badā€™ people I have no idea.

Of course good HR people exist.Ones that genuinely like recruiting the best people for jobs & help ensure that anti discrimination & related legislation is adhered to-cos if snr mgt had its way illegal employment practices would be regularly used. Please donā€™t generalise about an entire profession.

Yes! Only a third of the way through 'Juno Loves Legs' by Karl Geary but I know it'll be up there for me come December, regardless of what else is read this year šŸ“š

Can I ask how you donate directly to specific prison libraries? Last time I had a clear out and enquired, there were complicated rules and the easiest option seemed to be via a registered charity. But then youā€™d have no idea which prisons they were going to? Wondering if thereā€™s now an easier way!
