*edit: Tom Grazulis noted a 8-h break (>6 h) and thus, restricted the tornado count.

Fuhrmann et al. (2014) cites Grazulis (1993) and Forbes (2006) for the 6-h or greater tornado-free period in defining an outbreak.

I noticed that Tom Grazulis posted on the other site that he restricted the preliminary count by an 8-h break between tornadoes and Fuhrmann et al. 2014 used 6 h. Wikipedia is debating the number of days to include. I think most ppl don’t use a break? May I have your thoughts and anyone else’s? Thx!

Thanks Liz- that is so pretty! We have an open field behind us and tons of squirrels, and with our other feeders, we just feed everybody! May try some baffles with the camera feeder and a pole.

My brother gave me one of these feeders for my birthday recently. Did you have to use squirrel baffles and on what did you place the feeder- pole, hanging, fence or tree? Thank you ! Great pics 🥰

[2/3] and that thermodynamic quantities had almost no discrimination capability for PL. In particular, there were lower thresholds for kinematic quantities beyond which almost no LTTs were reported. Some of the highest correlations with PL were found with SRH, BWD and SR surface winds at z < 2km

1/3 Based on ERA5 soundings near the start points and start times of 48,212 tornadoes from 1979-2022, we found larger amplitude kinematic quantities were necessary for long-track tornadoes (LTTs; pathlength PL ≥ 30 mi), as is the case for long-lived supercells (i.e. supports faster moving storms)
