Yeah wireless is dicey in terms of lag, you specifically need gaming headphones for that, most of them use their own dongle over BT.

High dynamic range means more information in the higher and lower ends of the spectrum. There is no additional highlight/lowlight detail in the official implementation, it's just SDR but brighter, ergo fake HDR.
comment in response to post
This is functionally 10 bit SDR converted to PQ. It's not a proper HDR, no matter how you cut it.
comment in response to post
It's not about the peak brightness, it about the fact that the default HDR enabled in this patch: - offers little additional highlight brightness over SDR - offers no additional highlight detail over SDR - offers no additional color gamut usage over SDR

There's always headphones I guess.

Comparison to the Hobbit movies are apt. There's some really good stuff there, buried under the lot of not so good stuff. Replaying it now on PC, and I'm baffled how the game just revels in wasting your time.

Unfortunately, looks like it's official now. www.bbc.com/news/article...

You gotta give F.E.A.R that it's a master class of smoke and mirrors when it comes to the enemy AI. Goes to show that selling the illusion is sometimes more important than the illusion itself.

No mods, this is entirely stock, just updated the directstorage dlls (dunno if it actually did anything, but probably won't hurt).

It shows that the game doesn't have traversal stutter, like literally almost every other UE4/5 game in existence.
comment in response to post
Oh yeah, and in game Vsync is broken, this needs to be called out too.
comment in response to post
But the lack of the traversal stutter is a way, WAY bigger deal IMO, especially for the open world game. It's not a perfect port by far, but compared to the most UE games (heck, even Ninja Gaiden that came out the same day) it feels like a miracle of engineering. /rant

Yes, shader stutter sucks, but the game doesn't seem to use so many shaders, so it stops being an issue after Ch1 really. It's obviously not great and a bad first impression, I'm not defending it, but it's not really representative of the majority of the experience.

This was recorded on the 3080 12gb, 12600k, 32gb DDR5, 4K DLSS Quality, medium preset, frame rate cap via RTSS, otherwise everything stock except for the DirectStorage dlls. This is BY FAR the smoothest UE game I've seen since Days Gone www.youtube.com/watch?v=bynW...

Shader comp stutters are an issue, no argument there. But it's probably bugged, just like it was for the XVI demo. I've seen many people complain about the stutter in the open areas, and that's almost 100% caused by the VRAM oversaturation. The game defaults to the medium textures for a reason.
comment in response to post
8GB of VRAM is not enough for high textures in this game.

My HDR tho

Not even sure to which part of the "classic Naughty Dog" it's supposed to harken to. Uncharted 1-3 maybe? Also, I bet that Reznor/Ross are doing like a handful of tracks at best

I mean, Dead Space is pretty much The Thing x Alien x Even Horizon, how hard it would be?

Fun fact, Kitase literally compared VII Remake trilogy to SW special editions lmao.

I'm the other way around, I can live with meh story if the characters are compelling, but a) Aerith was done SO dirty and b) Rebirth winning the awards for "storytelling" and "narrative" is gotta be some joke.
comment in response to post
I disagree. The character writing is very strong in both games. It's the overall story that's clearly just Nomura and Nojima pulling things out of their asses.
comment in response to post
So I take you're not voting Rebirth as your GOTY? lol.
comment in response to post
The implication is that Aerith sees the Spider Man No Way Home rift in the sky.
comment in response to post
That's a one dirty-ass retcon.

Expecting Stalker game to launch bug free is like expecting Bethesda game to launch bug free.

I used RTSS to cap the framerate, front edge sync mode

Have you tried to turn off the Razer RGB crap from the menu? Apparently it can cause stuttering on some configurations. That said, I am either unable to replicate it on my end, or maybe I'm just not seeing it (12600k, 3080 12gb, med preset, low PT, 4k DLSS RR per) www.youtube.com/watch?v=p3RR...

I know the feeling exactly. Eastern Europe is cooked.
