One of the things that makes me angriest is that guys like this are the losers in our America. White supremacists and bribe takers, or just the ones who grovel on their bellies before them, are the winners. For now. Honor the honorable and scorn the worms. www.kshb.com/news/local-n...

A key observation about nearly every one of the arguments against birthright citizenship; that all of them simply ignore the actual text of the Constitution in favor of a version that exists purely in their own heads.

This isn't even the thousandth most important problem with the Trump era, but the removal of some of the safeguards on the administrative state seems to have made it easier for sovereign citizen entrepreneurs to jam their fingers into the gears.

This is great. One thing that has almost totally gotten lost in the shuffle over the constitutional question is that there are statutes! They provide for birthright citizenship! You can’t get rid of them by executive order!

We're the axis

If you didn't read the attached order, note that the hearing is OPEN TO THE PUBLIC via the dial-in line. I will be in a meeting, which I'm seriously considering calling in sick for.

God damn, this stands tall in an era for cowards and kneelers.

A small blow against fraud, I hope. My chapter in the newest (and one of the only!) scholarly books on pseudolaw is released next week; my copy just arrived. I found con artists pretending to be the Crow Tribe, selling bogus medical licenses to anti-vaxers in RFK's orbit.

It's getting tiring to keep saying this, but for posterity's sake I will: any previous administration would have been instantly sunk by this. Before January 20, 2017, this would have been the most stunning corruption scandal in the history of the American justice system. Now, it's...a Thursday.

It’s crucial in this utterly lawless and corrupt administration that we recognize the people who acted with integrity and remember, forever, those who did not.

Still reading this, but Trump's criminal immunity just resulted in victory for a FOIA plaintiff seeking records relating to his mishandling of classified materials. With no criminal liability, there's no justification for withholding records. ecf.dcd.uscourts.gov/cgi-bin/show...

One federal law enforcement official called the order to withdraw the charges against Adams “horrific” and “just transparent corruption.” www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news...

WILD. The DAG should have resigned rather than signing off on this. But he was hired because he wouldn't. This is why the administration staffs up with grovelers, drunks, rapists, grifters and bribees. You can't send a letter like this under the initials of an honest and principled professional.

This might be the most nakedly corrupt document I’ve seen on DOJ letterhead — and I wrote a history of Watergate!

The American Bar Association has just called upon every attorney, regardless of their political views, to join them & stand up for the rule of law & at minimum insist that our government "follow the law." Every lawyer has an ethical responsibility to do so. www.americanbar.org/news/abanews...

Emergency motion for temporary restraining order is here: storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us... You can review the docket here: www.courtlistener.com/docket/69625... If you create an account (free, and the org is reliable and good) you can get alerts for new activity in the case.

Something interesting about this bill; the text says it was requested by a Steven Lovett. That's the name of the general counsel at Emporia State, a public Kansas school. Not sure if the university admin is taking a swing at tenure, or if it's the GC going rogue, but either is not great!

The Kansas legislature is taking up a bill this week--in committee for now--to eliminate the protections of tenure at state universities. www.kslegislature.gov/li/b2025_26/...

People do not like Elon running the government. Dems should keep talking about “President Elon,” not only because it triggers Trump and the Republicans, but also because it’s breaking through that he has too much power.
