I actually kind of like that late enough in the day, bluesky kind of just… stops. That’s enough internet for today!

I’ve only seen two pieces of his recently; first was about people attaining messianic relationships (either way) with LLMs, and that was featured on QAA podcast. Second I haven’t finished, but seems to be a step back to broader psychological context (I’m bad at finishing my reading! 😞)

You and @moviehooligan.bsky.social getting jury duty within six months, the system is trying to keep Warmbo from speaking.

I’ve been doing AI data training for 2.5+ years. I always used the word “obsequious” for how the models act, but everybody else seems to have settled on “sycophantic”; what gives?

I can still write <= 300 characters and not type “you you” without the help of AI

I haven’t yet read this (but will soon!!); but based only on this tagline, is it safe to presume that you’ve been reading the recent work of Miles Klee (in rolling stone)? I realize the extremes of human behavior aren’t your beat per se, but it’s at least fascinatingly relevant

I honestly did not know that the ICC has power of arrest. If that’s true, then what the fuck is stopping them?

I don’t know man; I have a front yard full of trash because of the wind and careless garbage workers; I’ve dug several large pits in my backyard during day and night; I still get teenage summer job solicitors. If they’re afraid then they don’t show it

Huh. Wait, surely there are (good?) horror movies where the villain just lives in an apartment. Not stuff like REC, or even Rosemary’s Baby. Like, “Dave’s Apartment”, which too few people seem to *leave*… does that exist? I can’t think of anything like that

ROO IS 19 POUNDS?? I previously asked, and you rightfully claimed ignorance, are you sure he’s not a fuckin bobcat hybrid? (All props to Kitten, but that’s what caught my eye 👀)

Humorously unsettling, unsettlingly personal, personally ambitious, ambitiously inventive, inventively insightful, insightfully humorous. 12/10 (audio version reviewed)

The weirdest part of Atlas Shrugged to me, even when I read it as a susceptible youth, was when the protagonists were unsettled by a lack of billboards doing their road trip lol

Given a general topic of education, there are advanced notions of that topic available. Keep them ready and at hand. Teach the notions necessary to understand the basics, and continue to gesture toward the mystery you’ve promised. If you’ve cultivated curiosity, then you’ll eventually get there!

This is very niche, but— “motivating examples”. For example: I’m about to teach undergrad linear algebra again. It’s mostly computation based, and only based on the vector space R^n. I’m going to introduce the motivating example of the vector space P_2 over Z_3. Layman version:

No direct references, and no real support; but “fuck it” may be the proper response more often than anybody likes

In line with “tools”, learning basic physics goes a long way in basic repairs! To whit: unless your metal is all aluminum, then magnets will probably help! Torque, baby! The longer your lever, the stronger your force!

Not a bit. Christmas sandwiches are not a thing in America. The closest we come is what I alluded to— for the week or two after Thanksgiving, we make sandwiches out of leftovers. But generally we don’t have seasonal sandwiches.

If the answer to the headline is “no”, I won’t be happy. Guess I need to read this to find out…

Y’all have specific Christmas sandwiches? Are they like, our Thanksgiving leftover sandwiches?

Hell yeah! As a perpetually underweight person, I was *thrilled* when I finally had that V overhanging after so many months of muscle building! (versus hip bones sticking out)

Why would anybody do that here, when we can just respectfully pay to watch you do that on 🌶️?

Talking to a friend who was really struggling with it, I recalled all my podcasts and newsletters, and settled on "community. start with your neighbors. then find local causes you caare about. be angry on their behalf."
