By accepting Trump’s anti-Black premise and regurgitating the narrative that equates anything Black as DEI, the NY Times has become part of the propaganda machine

"Politicization of the military, bringing the military into politics and bringing politics in to the military, is bad for military effectiveness, it is bad for democracy, and we are now here, deep in the middle of it" [email protected], with appropriate alarm about the Trump military purges

Many of us said for years that the Biden administration should've nationalized SpaceX because Elon Musk was a legitimate national security threat. Those suggestions were ignored and considered quite unserious. 🧵

Wait. It gets worse: "The new document states that the revenues will be directed to a fund in which the United States holds 100 percent financial interest, and that Ukraine should contribute to the fund until it reaches $500 billion....The US has allocated $119 billion for aid to Ukraine."

Odd to bring back the spoils system but the spoils for one side is the ability to be corrupt and racist and the "spoils" for the other side is being able to run the government relatively competently.

One aspect of doing a political purge of the military and civil service is you can't come back in afterwards and just revert to status quo ante policies. A counter-purge becomes a necessity before you can then restore usual norms and protections. The people he's installing can't be left in place.

This is very, very bad. Am working on a write-up, but let’s just say that firing military leaders for blatantly political reasons is wildly inappropriate; firing all the too lawyers is ominous; firing them all at the same time is a terrifying five-alarm fire

Just look at these paragraphs from the AP story. Hegseth called Brown unqualified solely because he's Black. Then they fired him... and replaced him with a white guy so indisputably unqualified that he requires a Presidential waiver. This is what "merit" means to them. apnews.com/article/trum...

Trump take insulin

Broke: DOGE's supposed "savings," even with generous accounting, aren't enough to positively impact the federal budget, certainly not when factoring in the lost benefits Woke: DOGE's supposed "savings" aren't even enough to cover DOGE

a sane national security establishment would understand that a poll like this is a five alarm fire for the long term interests and security of the United States

This is 100% on the mark, worth reading. Silicon Valley isn't in the tech business. Few people get rich by creating truly innovative new tech. LOTS of people have gotten rich by creating something of minor significance and then running pump-and-dump schemes premised on innovations that aren't there.

Judge John Bates characterized the government’s position as “we’re not an agency where we don’t want to be an agency, but we are an agency this one instance where we want to be.”

They’re going prosecute AOC and when they do, I don’t wane to hear a damn negative word about her on here whether you think she’s too far to the center or too far left. Normal politics are now cancelled until further notice.

So if you criticize Elon Musk, Trump’s DOJ will send you this letter. Members of Congress must have the right to forcefully oppose the Trump Administration. I will not be silenced.

State governments should cut off all state and local cooperation with the FBI, and they should do it immediately. No law requires it, the Constitution fully empowers you to not even return their calls. But there is no legitimate purpose now in treating them as an acceptable partner for anything.

39% of the detainees disappeared to the Guantanamo offshore prison were deemed "low threat" by the Trump administration. Some of the individuals being detained at Guantanamo did not cross illegally, legally requesting asylum at a port of entry.

This is a concentration camp. They are describing a concentration camp.

What truly fills me with despair is how Americans are fine with this — even happy about it, enthused at any degradation of immigrants. Is a Republic made up of such people worth preserving?

Holy shit.

if you were accidentally fired while transporting a nuclear warhead and currently need a place to stay with said warhead please know that i have a sizable backyard and an abiding desire to be a nuclear power

We should start tallying Bobby's body count now. It's going to be big.

“the western community of values was terminated here.”

I think Douglass is the greatest American, or at least the paradigmatic ideal of what this country can be: a self-made man whose drive for justice lifted him out of slavery and put him at the forefront of imaging what real democracy would require. No wonder these people want to eradicate his memory.

again, this is the easiest political slam dunk in the world find a veteran with a lifetime of public service who has been fired for no reason and bring him on television with you do it again tomorrow with a different veteran, and again, and again show the human cost

man.

This is all a good reminder that, “no help, no votes until the criminal conduct stops” is neither a big ask nor a politically perilous one.

How much Elon Musk makes from the government a day: $8 million. How much a senior on Social Security gets a day: $65 Guess which budget Musk and Trump want to cut?

A historic graphic of corruption. The 11 federal agencies so far targeted for firings or dismantling by Elon Musk have more than 30 ongoing investigations into his companies. (📸 Malika Khurana for NYT)

Bureaucracy is feminine (bad) and violence is masculine (good) is a worldview that’s opposed to the rule of law itself.
