Have you tried the gov.uk teaching vacancies site? I know more and more schools are using it

We don’t have the tech for a full class to sit an assessment never mind a whole year in one go and our internet is patchy at best. Not a chance surely

It’s coming in, whether I like it or not, but I would appreciate a chat if you have time on things to be aware of and pitfalls to avoid as curriculum leader x

Ark Maths Mastery, not in place within the trust at the minute. I’m hoping that there will be ample CPD but I’m wary with it being implemented during the academic year!

Up to now we have had a bespoke school curriculum that we wrote. The trust are buying one in and I just wondered what other people’s experiences were because I know there will be pros and cons for all of them.

My argument is there are a lot of free curriculum models that do similar or better. Happy to be proven wrong though

Oh no, no, no. They haven’t applied for it. They have just been asked to do it. I have many more suitable staff. It is only short term, so I’m hoping there is no negative impact or undoing of work

They teach maths but it’s not their specialism. But I think it’s bonkers. I wasn’t sure if I was over reacting

I didn’t think it was available yet, but I remember reading a blog and then couldn’t find it!! Rookie here can’t have bookmarked it. Thank you so much. I’m going to bookmark the page today whilst I have the headspace x

If I bought anything like that this early, I would have eaten it by Christmas 🐷

It’s a tough one because the question feels vague to me. I think if students get a 3, they deserve the chance to resit but for those below a 3, I don’t believe resitting the GCSE is fit for purpose? An alternative perhaps?

I started my summer reading this and found it a really good read!

I’m in the never camp, also maths though…our trust tried to promote it and I experimented but it couldn’t do what I needed it to do, it is useless with designing maths questions!

On the fence…it would depend on other factors. I can and have taught without one, but now I feel It would be difficult without a visualiser as I’m a convert. I also like using mathsbot for visual representations of manipulatives and would miss that.

I don’t particularly rate the use of target grades although we have them, especially as they fluctuate with coefficient changes every yr. But I do like the use of internal data for tracking, we definitely don’t pigeon hole kids based on ‘targets’, we just push for every student to do their best.
