Word of the day is ‘huff-snuff’ (16th century): a hectoring bully or braggart.

A bit rich for Liberals to complain of a Labor dirt unit when the entire Liberal Party is one big dirt unit. #DuttonInsiderTrader

We need to tax them until they bleed

When I’m struggling to write, I often go back to this David Lynch quote. ‘I discovered that if one looks a little closer at this beautiful world, there are always red ants underneath’

It’s arrived! Thanks Jon! @kudelka.bsky.social

Why?

not Lynch's movie, I know, but god, what a sendoff

MAKE POLLUTERS PAY

Nannas still having trouble in understanding why #auspol can pass a bill to protect children from social media but won’t enact legislation that protects the health and wellbeing of young people from climate change. Good luck ⬇️ and thanks from us! adutyofcare.davidpocock.com.au/prominent_vo...

Dutton's culture war strategy is simply designed to get us fighting with each other to distract from he's zero positive policies or vision. #auspol

‘Australian is reporting on ‘leaked CEC polling’ that shows regional voters support renewable energy rather than nuclear power due to concerns about environmental impacts & the promise of economic opportunities from large-scale wind & solar projects.’ Well, that’s inconvenient 🥔#auspol #AusVotes25

‘The message presumably will be just “trust us”…But that is not good enough. Substantial reform is needed, locked in by legislation. Reform…integrity of the APS but also to its capability & future performance,’ Andrew Podger @MandarunAU #auspol #AusVotes25 www.themandarin.com.au/284392-alban...

Microsoft 365 subscribers are being told their annual fee is increasing by 30%. Do not pay that price. It's an upsell to a new Microsoft 365 Copilot AI product. Select 'Cancel your subscription', only then will you see an option to retain your current subscription as Microsoft 365 Classic. Do it

Today is the 13th anniversary of buying a treeless parcel of land. Today we have tens of thousands of trees, a wetland, orchards and veggie garden that supplies most of our food, flower gardens, rare flora and fauna and of course our sheep. It's been fun and an honour. I'm very grateful.

What are some absolutely fantastic long-ish (20 min to 2 hrs) long form investigative / interesting YouTube videos?

we're thrilled to share that we've started the year with a new addition to our team! he's extremely smart, capable, charming, persuasive, and boasts a wealth of museum experience

We're only ten days into 2025 & already 40 people in aged care homes have died from COVID. The answer is so clear: clean the air, test staff & give them paid sick leave, test visitors before entry, enforce mask wearing. None of this is rocket science ... We just don't seem to care enough 🤷

If, like me, you weren't too pleased about the steep hike in your Microsoft 365 subscription this year, you can avoid it by switching back to 'Classic' (without Copilot). Thanks Nick Gelling at Consumer Magazine for the tip! www.consumer.org.nz/articles/you...

Australia, @mark-ungrin.bsky.social Has NO legislated indoor air quality.... But, our Parliament House has 7-8 ACH 🤬

Maybe if we had factchecked the US every time it claimed to be the greatest nation on Earth none of this would have happened

When independents are in Parliament, governments can’t take any vote for granted. They must negotiate, consult, and collaborate. That leads to better policies and outcomes that serve all Australians — not just party insiders.
