Gotta find some way to pay for those expiring billionaire tax cuts.

“We are the Federal law”? Ok, Judge Dredd, calm down. Maybe read a book. Or at least the Constitution.

In a world where most people turn out to be horrible, Luke Skywalker turned out to be awesome

I worked at Tesla engineering in Palo Alto, and believe me, Musk is not a computer scientist or a computer engineer. He’s not a computer “expert” of any sort. He IS, however, an expert at sales and grifting.

Subscribing to the philosophy of “judge them by their own values”, these are a group that profess “no handouts”, “no charity”, “get a job”, in short, “be responsible for yourself”. Well, if you support a misogynistic, racist, authoritarian fool, then you own that, and the rest of us won’t like you

As a man, I’d like to offer my apologies on behalf of my very, very stupid brethren

But how many had autism because of it? Oh, right, zero.

Feels more like a bad heist picture, where Donald Trump getting elected is actually a rouse to allow him to steal all the gold in Ft. Knox. I’d honestly prefer that to reality.

Loving how “all of a sudden” implies some unknown cause. Gee, what could be making investors feel uncertain. Except… what’s up with AAPL?

If the lies weren’t so transparent, then it would be a different kind of frightening. But the situation is worse. The lies, the corruption, the incompetence are all so obvious. Yet the people, the voters, believe the lies anyway. With voters like this, who needs Twitter algos.

Kash Patel, FBI director is the joke. It’s just not a funny one. Certainly dark, but not at all funny.

And these nay votes were pure performance. The nay votes only happened because the nay voters knew there were enough yea votes to confirm.

“Ceded ground”? What kind of revisionist nonsense is this? Et tu AP?

Well said, Senator.

Not sure I’d say the information on the internet is useless. But you can believe whatever you like.

You just described the internet.

This. Thank you. Finally someone says what is plainly true, though unfortunate and uncomfortable (to say the least). But I think for your argument to have real internal consistency, you have to omit “unwittingly”. How can anyone honestly say that any voter was unaware without being _willfully_ so.

Oh the irony. If Zelenskyy isn’t an adult, then no one is. Shanahan, on the other hand, and I don’t use this term lightly, is a cunt if ever there was one.
comment in response to post
Yes! People who voted for or otherwise support Trump are not innocently unaware, or fooled, or tricked. They knowingly want this.

Sometimes you just have to laugh at the absurd.

What’s wrong with you? Were you born a craven weakling? Or is there a course they teach at CNN that helps you become such?

The small “win” here is Scotten’s resignation. It’s a glimmer of hope that there are still some ethical Republicans left in the DoJ, and I’m suggesting that it’s making you think irrationally.
comment in response to post
You must not have read the excerpts I quoted for you. Or your definition of the words “good”’ or “negative” or meaning of the phrase “I do not” are vastly different than those commonly accepted. I find it far more likely that your desire for something you can feel is a win has made you naive.

He then goes on to say that Trump’s lawyers should know better (but not Trump himself). This is a clear appeal to Trump, personally. Why else say this in a letter of resignation?

That is an incredibly generous interpretation. “[…] generally negative views of the Administration. I do mot share those views. I can even understand how a Chief Executive [Trump] whose background is in business and politics might see the contemplated dismissal-with-leverage as a good […] deal”
comment in response to post
This is good, but maybe we should hold back the excessive fellatio since he includes in his _resignation letter_ that he supports the Trump administration and understands how Trump thinks using prosecutorial leverage for political gain is “good”. Man, the bar is low.

The problem is more Americans care about their team winning than what the rules are or even what game they’re playing.

For me it was when the voters elected the president who twice committed obviously impeachable offenses and sexual assault and felony business fraud

The pool of people that demonstrate even a hint of a spine is shrinking fast. Especially in the field of journalism.

The real problem voters had is that even though real wages were up, prices were up. People looked at their increased spending power and said, “I earned this because I’m so great” And they looked at prices and said, “Why should _I_ pay more!” Not thinking, if everyone has more, prices _must_ increase
comment in response to post
Not worth a read. This article is essentially asking, “why didn’t we change the definition of a good economy just for Biden.” You can ask why use these metrics, but “good” vs “bad” for economies is a matter of comparison. And to do any meaningful comparison, the metrics must be the same. They were.

One could argue that McConnell is more responsible for laying the groundwork for the chaos we’re seeing today than anyone else.

A month? No. People were fine voting for a guy who led an insurrection four years ago. So four years was _not_ enough for people to say, “Wow, that was crazy”
comment in response to post
Nice work. Now can you point your advocacy journalism at Musk, Trump, and Vance and ask why they rehired a group of racists for key positions in an illegitimate executive branch department that is performing illegal acts? Just a suggestion.

We gave up any intellectual or moral high ground that we had when we re-elected a convicted felon. What happens now is just icing on the cake.

Good message. Now, when you’re done using this as an excuse to kiss Trump’s ass, do you think you can remember your oath to defend the constitution? Maybe do that?

Powell is what they all should aspire to be. He’s the model of a dutiful public servant.
comment in response to post
She was right about CFPB but dead wrong about Powell. Powell did a fantastic job guiding monetary policy. He was laser focused on only the dual mandate of the Fed, pulling off the soft landing that no one thought was even possible. He’s a huge part of why covid did _not_ cause a massive recession
comment in response to post
Sorry, but congress was made irrelevant the minute Trump took the oath of office.
comment in response to post
If Trump doesn’t respect the authority of the judicial branch, why would he respect the authority of the legislative? The things he’s doing are already illegal. Hell, even impeachment is just another effect of law. Once enforcement of law is nullified, the entire system is nullified.

I’ve met Sam Altman. He’s not a good person. He’s actually kind of a jerk. But this was funny. Turns out, the world is not black and white.
