We hold the Day of Mourning vigils to draw attention to these injustices, to commemorate the lives of victims, and demand justice and equal protection under the law for all people with disabilities. Join ASAN for a virtual vigil this March 1st: https://www.facebook.com/events/1155185306166317

The Autistic Archive, created by ACI alum Ira Eidle, works to preserve the history of the autistic community and neurodiversity movement. This can give people an idea of where this movement comes from and where it could be going.

Australia is the only colonial nation to celebrate it's national day on the anniversary of the invasion by colonisers.

Want to find out more about the history of disability activism in the UK and what we need to do now? Well I have a book for that! Ramping Up Rights is out July 3rd with @hurstpublishers.bsky.social Preorder here: www.hurstpublishers.com/book/ramping...

There are a lot of issues our communities care about, and it can be hard to prioritize our work — join us on 1/30 at 4pm ET for Policy Advocacy: What we do and how we do it to learn how to do policy advocacy and set your own priorities!

Today, January 23rd, is Ed Roberts Day. Ed Roberts was a disabled activist who is considered to be the father of the Independent Living movement. “The greatest lesson of the civil rights movement is that the moment you let others speak for you, you lose.”

There's a myth I see spreading in the autistic community that all autistic people have autistic parents, or that you have to have autistic parents to be autistic. And it is a danger to the accurate identification of autistic kids.

I’m here finally and looking for my friends #ADHD #Corvids #Autistic #Artist

you don't need to over think it. the guy boosts a far-right german party. he all but endorsed great replacement theory. he took over a platform and turned it into the home for online hate. he does the salute twice, but that really doesn't matter. we already know who he is

I'm genuinely sorry for autistic people who are losing communities on multiple platforms these days. But maybe somewhere in all of this, we can find some space to reflect on the fact that none of these spaces were as inclusive and diverse as they're often presented.

Updated resources and signposting on my website about everything monotropism related! autisticrealms.com/monotropism/

We now have a fairly short starter pack of people researching and writing about monotropism. Please let us know if you want to be added or removed, or you think we've made a mistake. Thanks! go.bsky.app/63PBN1y

As we head into this new administration, we need cis people to step up and push back against anti-trans laws. In this week's post, I dispel some myths about transitioning and discuss why it is important to everyone to fight for trans rights. Read it here: karajorgensen.com/2025/01/19/t...

It will be easy to fall into a pattern of dunking & reacting in these times. Performing disapproval can be a consuming pastime & it is not enough. Refuse to abandon vulnerable people. Build a rebellious culture of care. If you need help, @prisonculture.bsky.social and I wrote a book to assist you.

Happening this evening!

Wheeling this out again today for anyone who needs it

This is a fantastic book and is easily one of the best I’ve read this year.

Satire: “I couldn’t imagine people at school knowing she was autistic. She might have been bullied,” Shinter says about her late-diagnosed adult autistic daughter. “I mean, yes, she was bullied anyway. Repeatedly. But that isn’t the point.” @thedailytism.bsky.social: thedailytism.com/we-didnt-wan...

It’s strange how some respond to prejudice by embracing Aspie supremacy as a defense mechanism, claiming superiority not just over neurotypicals but also higher support needs autistic people. Fighting marginalization by creating new hierarchies misses the point. lovettejallow.com/neurodiversi...

When I wrote this article I was called all types of black b🦋tches by white neurotypical men first of all why are minding a black #autistic woman’s business please stay over there in your NT ignorant world #actuallyautistic #autismacceptance #blackandautistic #autism

It’s finally out. Happy holiday reading of our initial analysis of the first international survey of #Autistic experiences of #Menopause. Co-produced/led by #ActuallyAutistic researchers. 24 countries and 508 participants. @amypearson.bsky.social Open access. journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/...

How odd. Autism Speaks, who claim they are a reformed organisation, are funding ABA research on how to stop autistic children rocking, nodding their head, or expressing autonomy when asked to do distressing things by ABA teams. onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/... Brand new research. Dec 24.
