"In Gaza, human shields are used by Israeli soldiers at least six times a day...Today, almost every platoon keeps a "shawish," and no infantry force enters a house before a "shawish" clears it. This means there are four "shawishes" in a company, twelve in a battalion, at least 36 in a brigade. 1/4

Alberta considering killing its industrial carbon tax, email shows www.ctvnews.ca/edmonton/art...

I’m…I uh…fully agree with Kenney without reservations?

Oh ffs. We were once proud to say we were the first province to have a price on industrial carbon emissions (thank you Steady Eddy). The UCP is the executive government-wing of CAPP.

Carney: "The old relationship we had with the United States based on deepening integration of our economies and tight security and military cooperation is over."

Danielle Smith claims flying to Florida to pose with Ben Shapiro is “going into the lion’s den”. The truth is, it’s a trip to a Republican safe space, a far-right fundraiser & more about pumping the Premier’s ego than promoting Alberta. Albertans shouldn’t be on the hook to pay for it. #ableg

I imagine I'm not the only person who sees this video and immediately flashes back to the iconic photos of people with shaved heads in Nazi concentration camp barracks stacked one on top of another. Not trying very hard to buck the charges of being kinda fashy, eh?

Appalling that Danielle Smith can’t make in-person meeting between PM Carney & Premiers but is flying at taxpayer expense (!) to US to do a fundraiser for US far-right org (!) with Ben Shapiro (!) who endorsed Poilievre & supports Trump calls to make Canada the 51st state! 😳

Danielle Smith crossed the floor. Then she crossed the border. Now she's crossed the line. Time to go. Well said, @martychan.bsky.social.

This speaks volumes: Yale professors, Timothy Snyder, a historian of totalitarianism and the author of "On Tyranny," and Jason Stanley, a philosopher and the author of "How Fascism Works", move to Canada. leiterreports.typepad.com/blog/2025/03... munkschool.utoronto.ca/person/timot...

This is who and what Smith has been for years. Before Trump's second term there were signs that she would sell out Alberta and Confederation for the chance to be the absolute ruler of an autonomous province. The talk of annexation gave her a political pry-bar to try and break up the country.

If you're a journalist in the US and you're not speaking out against the ongoing killing of Palestinian journalists, at record levels, by a US-funded foreign military, then you should hang your head in shame.

Just a reminder… In just a few days Danielle Smith is flying to the US on taxpayer dollars… To hang out with this guy. #abpoli #ableg #cdnpoli

Yikes when you’ve lost Don Braid on a liberal/conservative Canada/Alberta issue. Let’s see how Rick Bell spins this into being a good thing for Smith/Alberta.

Green card holders detained. A French researcher denied entry for anti-Trump messages. A new travel ban on 40+ countries coming. Given all these encroachments on travelers' civil liberties, we've updated our guide to digital privacy while crossing US borders. www.wired.com/2017/02/guid...

How do we get someone added to the Annex Canada 🔥🇨🇦🔥 group chat?

At a time when Canada needs MASSIVE investment to transition away from the US, to build new facilities and transpo towards our ports, to rebuild our military, to build HOMES, to rebuild science and post-sec ed... to see the two main parties jump on *tax cuts* for their campaigns is depressing.

Hahahhahahahhahaha oh my god these Americans.

Let's be clear, Danielle Smith is more than happy to placate Trump during the worst economic crisis facing our country than she is willing to work with Canadians. It's never country before politics for her.

My friend @davidlat.bsky.social just published an email Paul Weiss chair Brad Karp sent to the firm. This excerpt is the most chilling. This is how constitutional republics die -- when rivals see a violation of fundamental rights not as an injustice, but as a business opportunity:

This, and the star now also following up on insider sources that said the CPC discussed trying to communicate with the Vance and Trump team to distance themselves from Poilievre: (gift link) www.thestar.com/opinion/cont...

“Danielle Smith is Mark Carney's secret weapon” by @maxfawcett.bsky.social www.nationalobserver.com/2025/03/23/o...

Pierre Poilievre's hopes of winning the election it looked like he couldn’t lose now rest on his ability to create some distance between himself and President Donald Trump. So much for that, @maxfawcett.bsky.social writes.

The whole point is not just the state disappearing whoever they want, it's you being in the habit of accepting the state choosing whom to disappear, without question. It's submission to the state. Same as with Gitmo after 9/11. The state's judgment must not be questioned.

“on balance, the perspective that Pierre would bring would be very much in sync with, I think…the new direction in America” Danielle Smith making it clear exactly what’s at stake in the upcoming federal election. USA 2.0 #abpoli #ableg #cdnpoli www.breitbart.com/politics/202...

every person involved in this needs to be in prison

This is not only the goal of the Trump administration (as well as the tens of millions of Americans who voted for him) but it is something from which many people are profiting from through the private prisons facilitating such acts.

Collaborating with the Trump administration to own the Libs.

Day by day, it's becoming clearer that the UCP government is hiding behind the 6 ongoing investigations to avoid answering questions about the one issue that none of them is examining: Political interference. And only a public inquiry can get to the bottom of that.

It boggles the mind how Premier Smith can take a harder line stance against the prime minister of her own country than the president of an enemy nation. If she's unsure who is the bigger threat, her advisors have failed all Albertans miserably.
