Just read a thread on cops returning to bright uniforms w/ funny hats. & Feds returning to windbreakers. Scrubs ep on the Janitor's uniform changed and everyone stopped fearing him. Same thing should happen to cops. They aren't soldiers. bsky.app/profile/bret...

Likewise, I want us to get rid of the black police uniforms that have shown up everywhere. No black, no camo, I'd even ditch very dark blue. Bright colors, blue or tan, no camo pattern. A police officer should be immediately recognizable as both in uniform and as not being a soldier.

I'm serious about the funny hats, by the way. I'd allow peaked caps, even though they're vaguely military, but no berets. Campaign hats in bright colors would be ok, or slouch hats, but only if worn at a jaunty angle by regulation. You want something distinctive, but not a helmet.

Now don't get me wrong, a peaceful society needs police of various kinds. But the folks enforcing laws at home ought to show their faces, wear bright, friendly colors, with clearly visible badges and names and ideally funny hats. They're not soldiers and should not be allowed to pretend otherwise.

Scalia is dead tapestry is INCREDIBLE! 😂

I can NOT believe @notalawyer.bsky.social let you get away with that, unless he too has a beef with it. I can't believe I'm paying @ifbookspod.bsky.social to listen to Tolkien slander.

Sometimes I buy multiple parts, knowing I'll have to return to the store regardless and at least the project will be done (& I'm returning to return the extra/wrong items).

I really enjoyed this! Tho at the start I thought "wait, wouldn't Alexander get thrashed like you just said phyrus & successors did" and yep, that was your conclusion. Ha!

Could still be a bot. Did she post a picture with today's newspaper?

Imo, I wonder how Heert reacts differently if deedra hadn't spent her time stepping on his toes, stealing his data, going behind his back, etc. Bc he's clearly friendlier w/ Jung & Lagret, but tells Deedra off early in s2. I get the sense that partagaz was a benefactor, he's gone so she's screwed.

The in-unit German translators in Band of Brothers weren't translators bc they spent a year in Germany w/ a host family 🙄

Imo, she had oversight, but partagaz was her benefactor who'd supported her other rule breaking in s1. But he's gone/out/overruled and she (likely) has no other friends.

I read someone relate the empire to the holy Roman empire in terms of size, scale, who's considered a senator (towns, counties, bishops, trade guilds), etc. and that makes sense. Otherwise...why does ghor only have 800,000 people they need the genocide? Seems too low.

Bret Devereaux wrote a blog that said if TLJ is going to be a high speed chase hours after starkiller's destruction, the broadcast should be "we killed the super weapon - it's safe to fight them now" bc presumably the galaxy thinks it's still operational & wouldn't want to f with it.

"wow, nobody is responding to us. We're doomed" Ya dude, high command + govt all died 24 hours ago. They're just trying to figure out who is in charge and who are these ppl messaging us. Much less travel time.

I like playing USA and seeing how much I can spit out planes and tanks. I've never tried nat China, I guess I should

Deedra pissing off and stepping on her colleagues doomed her once her benefactor was gone. It was a very good look at her, & her colleagues, who were a bit more friendly (lagret, Lonnie, heert). I'm surprised lagret survived mon's escape, tbh.

That was a WILD subplot. Shockingly weirder than Sonny's large penis (& related).

Every automaker makes 3-5 SUV-esque vehicles, and only 4 total minivans. It's rough bc I really want to be a minivan dad!

"I said, would you LIKE some more TAMALES?" - what I quoted to my 4yo as we finished the last of the Xmas tamales and he asked for his 3rd 😂

I assumed sheer weight/mass would push thru fencing like this, since humans (who do feel pain) can push thru chain link fences w/ time.

Right!?! "Hey, David, we need you to lead our 5 year strategic planning committee." Boom sidelined. Done.

Trying to kick out David hogg will surely look good. I don't believe David has a huge constituency behind him (tho he did get elected), but the optics are bizarre and self destructive

So why are your Dem colleagues trying to legalize Trump's crypto scams & bribery?

Okay, cool. I thought he was reconsidering when he went looking for her but then thought he might be trying to appease ISB. I like the unknown w/ both guys. I need to watch again.

Who do you think was the 2nd who took too long? Mon's driver?

I like how they showed the squat bearded guy (who I assume is named Pierre or Jacques) took over as leader using the council meeting. I'm not sure if it's cry wolf. he was more timid & didn't embody the feelings of the rest of the fighters/revolutionaries. Either way, quite incredible.
comment in response to post
I missed that. Damn. Fascinating. Gotta watch again. Cyril-cassian fight was so good. I was legit afraid Cassian wouldn't make it!

Rylanz was like Taye Kolman (mon's blackmailing friend)...not really into rebellion when push came to shove but then Becomes one unlike Taye.

I don't think he had a gun. I don't recall him picking one up except Andor's. the hesitation is fascinating to dwell on.

That wasn't deliberate by the Germans (manufacturing many models), but they had to steal trucks from everywhere in Europe. Bc it was either that or horses & it was still A LOT of horses.

One of my neighbors is a writer/author. When his agent heard they were having kids he was told "don't write a kids book. You'll want to, but don't". And considering what's out there for kids books, I get it.

I am really impressed by Bill Kristol compared to other never-Trump conservatives. He seems to fully accept he was 100% wrong, whereas the others just want the Dems to take conservative stances.
comment in response to post
Cishet man, I am now getting ads for tracking your cycle naturally to "get off pills & fix your wellness", trad wife/homestead families, etc. It is wild how much it's pushed at me, a man who has kids.

vaccines are maybe the coolest thing we ever figured out. they are more impressive by a wide margin than the moon landing. We have never done anything better with our capacity for genius

My friend noted that Trump wakes up every day with the power to nuke every major US/world city and chooses not to. So technically, Bondi is correct.
