The problem I see with 'more resilient' crops is how do you breed/find resilience to climate chaos? - unprecedented rains followed by heatwave and drought, extreme winds etc. It seems to underestimate the future. Nature switching from provider to purger.

I wouldn't be so unquestioningly supportive. It's entirely possible they are being caught to 'aid research' and to satisfy the desire of those who want to handle them at close quarters. Let's be honest, the research is often a forlorn activity & who knows how the trauma goes on to impact the birds.
