What about world music?

Tbf, I know it's exactly the sort of mistake I've made many a time!

Ok, yeah, this is the kicker. This still affects me, and I'm only now starting to really deal with it. But I'm hopeful.

A couple of people got in touch after this to say I'm better than 'distinctly average'. But I still think it. Though it's been long enough since I sang in a choir that it doesn't bother me now.

Crikey, imagine writing and directing a musical and then saying this was 'not an achievement'!
But I do think I still agree that I'm enthusiastic rather than exceptional at many things. But that's fine!

Now, this is just terribly harsh on myself. I got a 2:1 in Mods — hardly an 'appalling mark'! (Though there were a couple of really bad marks in there, and overall it *was* a low 2:1. But I should have stopped beating myself up over that.
Also — 'tasks as basic as translating texts'?!!

I stand by this, though I don't know that 'remarkably average at best' is necessarily a helpful way of phrasing it. I think I'm at least 'pretty good'. My imposter syndrome has diminished, too.

This is self-critical, but true. The reason I chose to study Latin was because it was 'braggable'. But what I really understate here is why I kept at it — I hint at the reasons, but I should have reminded myself just how much I loved it. (And still do!)

Firstly, I think this is a very silly thing to say. I got exactly the grade I worked for — and to say that I didn't have the capacity to '[do] well' is ridiculous... a B is surely 'doing well'!
I no longer wonder about the world in which I chose Politics instead of Physics. That's gone now.

I think the correct preposition is "from" rather than "with"

No, my point is that people should be able to agree on one specific thing *without* praising the person!

On the contrary, I think it's precisely the reverse — it's because we have this idea that you're either completely with someone or completely against them. In that context, of course people are going to get radicalised in general when they previously agreed with just 1 thing.

Tbf she can probably make a persuasive case similar to Lib Dems post-2015 election — "look at what they've done without us"

I know I have an extension
I've re-read the email so many times
It even says not to worry if the Moodle says it's overdue
But I'm so scared I've got it wrong

Funnily enough, my grades for all modules so far are pretty much bang on 68. I'm nothing if not consistent.

Isn't that just the "live ammunition for rioters" or "close all night clubs permanently" option?

Should have gone for the Clive Dunn approach.
