The more important revelation IMV: the series is intended "to run for a decade"? Just in terms of 'the appeal, strengths and weaknesses of the Harry Potter books' that is even crazier than if the new series plans to focus on sex and romance.

If it's alot more than that then I agree it could be a problem.
Plus also all the other massive problems with it, of course…
Everything that was added to the plot, detracted from the story
We go live to the profits
*For a definitely not dubious definition of watch
It's at least covering material which has never been adapted for screen.
Compared to this which is covering already well treaded ground and also casting for roles where the perfect actor has already largely done the role.
You could solve this by recasting the entire show for each season and I think that would be really good fun.
Then you have the Rings of Power.
With the Potter show is the target audience adult fans or kids now? Because I can kind of see the logic if the idea is get some kids hooked and they grow up with the show

"You want an extended version of Batman Vs Superman? Cool, we'll add another 30 minutes of fucking JOURNALISM!"
I doubt the impetus behind the TV show will be any more noble.
She was never exactly a great prose stylist - which really begins to drag after 250 pages.
journey across the island, probably including another breakdown on the TransPennine Express.
Planes, trains, and rail replacement Knight Busses, etc
It's going to be a disaster
The Thick of it Spin off.
Have the Minister explain to Malcom Tucker why you thought having the Dementors guard the death eaters was a good idea.
Time to teach JK Rowling a lesson I think.
In a just world doing so would make them unemployable but of course that won't happen.
Nevertheless, it's not going to be a good look.
Season 7: "So Harry, did I ever tell you about wizard poop lore and what wizards did before the invention of toilets?"
They’ve been struggling to find actors willing to join the project because of Rowling’s toxic reputation
Along the lines of Ealing Studios; and starring the equivalent of Alec Guinness, Peter Sellers, Joyce Grenfell and Alastair Simm etc.
More slapstick than serious, more guffaws and a little less grand.
#HarryPotter
Because a slower, more bloated version of the films that already exist is definitely what people want.
Let have some new stories shown. There’s loads of books since then to use
I was delighted when my son got deeply into Terry Pratchett books.
I mean, this is WBD, who junked COMPLETED films, never mind commissioning a new one
What if you give body-conscious teenagers access to engorgement charms and other such things to modify and attempt to enhance their bodies...
So I think if the kids are great & they focus on those non-'plot' aspects it could be great. But we know how these things go on the end...
(Am reading Percy Jackson to my son, bloody hell)
I still remember the joy the first film brought to my children. And reading the books. That sense of magic, the joining of houses, scarves etc.
So many kids picked up a book again because of HP.
😉
I think these mega franchises will fade but will be around another generation at least.. Which is weird as it feels like there's been nothing new since 1996.
(And I do think their nature as mysteries was an underrated part of the books' appeal)
TWICE.
I wouldn't even be largely surprised if this is a petty attempt by she who shall not be named to effectively erase Radcliffe and Watson because they've both publicly disavowed her.
It was more or less a 'real time' story. The characters aged alongside their intended audience at roughly the same rate as the books were being written and published.
