It very well could be that the internet has rotted my brain but using "pulsing"... is deliberate. Unless it's Ragnarok time and even I think the Vikings would raise their eyebrows at "pulsing".

Look, de Montainge probably thought the same as well but crocheting wasn't a thing in his time.

Honestly I think this guy is just a hater, a lot of coats (especially duffel) have patched pockets as well and patched pocket blazers have been a menswear staple for ages. Agree with you that on a suit it would work with more relaxed fabrics.

Pillow Princess sounds like a folklore character.

Oh. Um... oh.

Been listening to the Solti recordings and, yeah. His famous ones are deservedly famous but sometimes it's the small moments that really hits you.

At the bottom of this Pandora's Box I hope we do find basic self-preservation.

not to write entire essays but clean paragraphs up or provide an essay plan (they have to declare that they have used AI to assist when handing it in). The tech is here to stay, so I think the best one can do is to find a way to use it in less morally repugnant ways and not melt the world with it.

I don't disagree that I find it troubling as well and especially within the creative industries there is no way (yet) of using this ethically (plus if the Disney lawsuit goes ahead that's another spanner in the works for AI). But being a graduate student I see a lot of students using ChatGPT...

Well and US being THE military superpower also helps.

While yes I am aware of the human capacity of moving goalposts, collective amnesia and the whole "wading in blood" thing from Macbeth, but, Iraq II was really recent. It's literally the same thing. Sometimes I do wonder if we've flown into a black hole and things are, as per Yeats, Not Going Well.

Same as it ever was.

I imagine him doing that high pitch scream in Mean Girls when he got back to the White House.

Look hear me out, with smoked salmon instead of ham though, I fuck with it. Often. Full disclosure I may also be a pervert with bizarre tastes but I don't think it's related.

Bilbao? The flights there are generally quite cheap and the food/city is nice.

I misread it as "You Belong To Me" (the pyramids along the Nile song) and think wow me too. I really am NOT that much older if you can believe it.

The monologue for the moment (if you don't mind being escorted off the train):

One of them is the real Queer Discourse. And yes it's the drunk one.

A line from the movie that always resonates with me: "I am tired of people, but that doesn't stop me from loving them."

I know. He's made objectively better movies, but that is still my favourite Bergman.

It's been a while for me too but if I remember the first smile of the summer night is for the young lovers who fall in love wholeheartedly. While the ones that missed that boat don't have that gift, they also don't bear that punishment.
comment in response to post
For some reason this reminds me of Smiles of a Summer Night and what was said about the first smile.

So, you know, that funhouse mirror is placed in front of you for reasons, some within your control, some beyond. How you react to it (and if possible, working through the constructs that put it there) is your choice.

I'm not saying that our economy is run on mental illness and woe, but I'm also not not saying that.

If more people have the bravery to admit to having a problem with body image the problem would be a little less ubiquitous. And I know it's corny to say "it's capitalism's fault" but let's face it, if men are not in constant dissatisfaction with their bodies the supplement industry would tank.

I know it's not the point and I am sad, sickened and angry about the sustained abuse and actual murder of a human being, but the bit about the dog? That's gone into Hills Have Eyes villain territory.

It's true. The way some of these examples went is surreal enough for it to be a Jam sketch.

It's not distortion when it's flattering, it's the mirror reflecting a deeper truth. 🥹

Mmm well sometimes I feel it's a bath day instead of a shower day but it's too late, I'm clean.

I'm gonna be sentimental and say maybe the real social network are the friends we made along the way.

Same difference, one's Mother and the other's a mum (or co-parent).

I agree. I mean, yes Ellie's been acting kind of off (which makes sense with the most recent episode) but I have been enjoying it too. She also looks younger than what usually passes for 19 in stuff that casts teens.

Oof if that's to be taken at face value they sang the quiet part out loud with a microphone and day glow colours, which, yes, is very Eurovision.

Well that's gonna be quite a ride.

I have the same feeling, I actually think that the bad writing and "tell don't show" dialogue really hampered how much I enjoy it, even if I think that it makes sense plotwise while being politically prescient.

Understandable. Whenever I see Matt Bomer I question whether we live in a simulation because he's so hot that he can't be real, but if he's not real is anything real? Maybe Douglas Adams is correct? (but not real)

Short answer: understand your triggers, take rest (if you can) and practice mindfulness (yeah I know, but it can help). Longer answer: think about what is the relationship with your body that is causing you distress and explore avenues of therapy.

I mean, if the election in Canada and Australia is anything to go by, the tide is turning (even if it's just a reaction to how utterly risible Trump and his ilk are and not much deeper). Now I hope that the visionless technocrats in the UK government can not deliver us to the fascists but, well.
