if you find yourself reluctant to support the guy at Columbia because you find some of the politics he espoused distasteful or even abhorrent, you should know that this is exactly the reaction that they hoped for in choosing him as a target for unlawful detention based on political speech.

Republicans are just flat out lying at this point. Biden's tariffs were targeted on certain products to protect specific industries. Trump's new, high tariffs are blanket tariffs and yes, they are already affecting prices at places like Target and Best Buy.

That is exactly true.

The fact that Musk has lost $100B over the last month but is still the wealthiest person on Earth and financially unharmed in the slightest—all while wealth and income inequality is worse now than it was after the Great Depression—is Exhibit A on why we need to tax billionaires out of existence.

Listen this IS in fact how it’s done. Georgetown Law Dean William Treanor responds to Acting U.S. Atty Ed Martin’s threat to refuse to hire Georgetown graduates who have taken “DEI” courses in their curriculum. Treanor is a brilliant lawyer & constitutional scholar. Embarrassing for Martin.

you’re fired. wait you’re rehired. email us a list of things you’ve done today wait forget it you’re fired again. come back your job was important. you’re fired. or hired. come in to the office. wait the office has no computers go home. we are the department of government efficiency.

I would note that this message is full of (a) kitchen table issues and (b) both rhetorical and material moderation and people love it because it is clear, mobilizing and oppositional this is what the national Dems just don't get

Enough about the price of eggs, from everyone. Cut the shit. The economy isn’t broken. It’s working exactly as they designed it—to keep you desperate, distracted, and exhausted while they cash in.

How God and good men hate so foul a liar.

We just walked out of the state of the Union. My shirt showed Trump an important message: NO KINGS LIVE HERE. In the spirit of student protestors from the Civil Rights Movement, I’m proud to have protested and walked out with many of my colleagues. This is NOT a normal time.

Protect your peace. Elbows up. No one is coming to save us.

We’ve had several kinds of vice presidents — ass kissers and attack dogs, ambitious strivers and marginalized nobodies, blowhards and tryhards — but Vance somehow combines the worst traits of all. He’s basically Veep Voltron.

You can’t overstate the historic importance of today’s speech to both American and Canadian citizens by Canada’s Prime Minister. Please watch it and share it wherever you live, but especially if you’re in the United States. You need to know what Trump is doing, and why. youtu.be/wz_42pckM7w

WASHINGTON (AP) - Zelenskyy left White House without signing US-Ukraine critical minerals deal Trump had demanded.

Just heard from a friend who is a true hero veteran. His company was destroyed in 30 days by the VA when they canceled 5 contracts without notice. 23 Americans mostly veterans out of work and a veteran owned small business destroyed. For nothing. They're dismantling the VA not "reforming" it.

Really excited for the slew of WaPo OpEds extolling on the importance of personal liberty for trans folks.

That’s Tammy Baldwin — not me. You can keep track of all the hundreds of white men but it’s the 28 women in the Senate that trips you up, Fox News?

Just a reminder that what he's talking about is the private information about every American and business, and there are laws against this access. "Transform the way the government works" by doing what? Targeting opponents? Microtargeting political ads so Republicans never lose?

It may not be cool or hip in some circles, but we legitimately do need a massive amount of people to run for office. Flood the school boards, councils, county seats, state legislatures, Congress, etc. Big changes at the top happen when the ground shifts at the bottom. And that can start now.

The root that tears apart your foundation begins as a seed of distrust, hate, and blame. The seed that grew into a dictatorship in Europe didn’t arrive overnight. It started with everyday Germans mad about inflation and looking for someone to blame.

It seems almost unavoidable at this point that we are headed for a deep, deep recession. Just based on 200K+ federal firings & pullback of contracts, the March employment report (to be released April 4) seems certain to show bigger job losses than any month ever outside of a few in 2008-9 and 2020.

it's very weird thinking about how elon musk's "richest guy in the world" status could basically evaporate if people just stopped believing in the collective hallucinations of the market, vaporware trillionaire

Protests beget more protests as people see that its ok to express frustration openly.

Letters went out to federal workers this morning stating they were fired due to poor performance. However, all employees had been rated as “exceptional” performers by their supervisors. Please keep these records and pursue wrongful termination claims. Let the lawsuits begin.

If you claim to be a leader but are too scared to lead, fine -- sit down and let someone else take your place. It is easy to be bold when there is no threat. Now is a time for courage. www.cnn.com/2025/02/16/p...

When facism comes to America it will be wrapped in the flag...

Tryin' to imagine makin' a billion dollars scribblin' about baby wizards and whatnot, then sittin' in my castle, rage-tweetin' at trans people all day. Guuurl you won at life. It's cool to just sign out and take everyone your ass has ever known to Wingstop.

Every web page ordered restored by the court that features anything related to gender now contains this notice.

At the stonewall monument rn

Strong rumor with credible sourcing: DOJ has put all of public integrity line attorneys in a room and told them they have an hour for someone to choose who will sign motion to dismiss and if nobody does, they will all be fired. The nastiest strong-arming in DOJ history by a long shot.

Protest at Stonewall tomorrow. You can’t spell Stonewall without the T.

The interim US Attorney for the Southern District of New York, a FedSoc member and former Scalia clerk, has done more to publicly expose the corruption of the Trump administration this week at greater personal cost than any elected official I can think of.

REPOST if you support our federal workforce and know how dedicated they are to their jobs. Show them you appreciate them!

Folks: I am NOT affiliated with the group that is using my name to support an economic boycott. Please spread this post, if you would.

much is being made of Danielle Sassoon's conservative bonafides (her clerkship with Scalia, her fedsoc profile page). What else is publicly known about her? She's good at her job! (The Verge knows because she was an SBF prosecutor.) A line is being drawn between the competent and the craven.

Crucial thing you must do right now is strengthen and expand your community. Serve together. Try a new activity. See each other in person. Over on the other site I am continually struck by how the rabid intensity does not actually reflect community or connection. Only way we get through this.
