As somebody in optimization: it’s rarely that nakedly evil. It’s more that by making it more difficult to get help/answer questions, fewer people try the chatbot—which then results in there being less evidence of a problem in the first place. And nobody’s boss gets mad about bad numbers going down.

It feels like utter crankery but yeah, how else do you explain this thinking? Like the dream they’re pursuing is to be in a compound with cheap help while a stochastic version of the purge happens outside the walls.
