Did you know that Medicare does NOT pay for long-term care. NOPE. 2/3s of longterm care for your parents is paid by MEDICAID. If you want Medicaid cut, your parents wiil need to move into your house when they need long-term care & YOU will be providing it.

Correct. My European friends are quite reasonably appalled when I tell them that in the US you have to spend down your assets paying for nursing care until you qualify for Medicaid, and only then will Medicaid pay for nursing home care, while Medicare pays for medical treatments.

Rep Raskin has been great. Rep Ocasio-Cortez has been great. And Rep Frost and Rep Crockett. Senator Murphy. Maybe no one knew exactly what to do. But such people laid down a clear marker. Let’s respect these and other elected federal representatives who stood out these first few weeks.

He’s really picking the wrong city to fuck with this time. bsky.app/profile/atru...

Insane-house lovers, rejoice! For #SaturdayNightZillow comes with alt text 💜

Sending an email to employees asking them to list five things they did that week is a classic move from a manager who has no idea how to manage

Oh my god, Eric Adams is going to accidentally free Luigi. Amazing.

The scale and scope of Trump and Elon’s purge of federal workers will set our country back decades. You can't just fire everyone, gut critical agencies, halt funding to organizations across the country and think there won’t be massive consequences.

This is the ultimate dick boss move from Musk - except he isn’t even the boss, he’s just a dick.

Justice Department supervisors are directing employees to hold off on replying to the federal government-wide directive to describe recent job achievements — an Elon Musk order that DOJ staff worry will trigger ethics violations.

I appreciate this response from Ed Yong on why he requests that people mask at his events. www.nytimes.com/2025/02/22/m...

NEW — The National Treasury Employees Union Chapter 282 just emailed its ~8,000 employee members strongly advising them NOT to reply to the “What did you do last week?” email from OPM/Musk.

Along with the venal cruelty and existential consequences, can we pause to note that this is EXACTLY WHAT MUSK DID AT TWITTER? Beat for beat. Practically word for word. The guy hasn’t had a new idea or operational insight in a decade. He’s on autopilot while demolishing the U.S. government.

"It's almost like watching state disintegration in real time."

This is a wild, WILD situation. The President is at least allowing, licensing these emails though clearly not directing them. Meanwhile parts of the uniformed military are directing civilians within DOD to ignore them. Same at State and according to Dilanian FBI. But DOJ is saying do what the ...

George Zimmerman and Kyle Rittenhouse are walking free! They're doing fucking speaking tours!

Goodnight friends. Don’t let the forkers ruin your Sunday.

It may not be cool or hip in some circles, but we legitimately do need a massive amount of people to run for office. Flood the school boards, councils, county seats, state legislatures, Congress, etc. Big changes at the top happen when the ground shifts at the bottom. And that can start now.

Elon Musk instructed federal workers to respond to an email summarizing their weekly accomplishments, a tactic he previously used to downsize staff at X. “Please reply to this email with approximately five bullet points of what you accomplished this week and CC your manager,” the message stated.

There are employees who work a 4x10 schedule with regular days off (RDO) Saturday, Sunday, Monday, and others with Sunday, Monday, Tuesday who will not get this email or have the opportunity to respond during working hours. There are others who do not access .gov email b/c they don't use computers.

Judiciary employees and likely federal judges all got the "what did you do last week" email.

The US economy is currently bigger than the next three largest global economies *combined.* Trump is blathering about the 19th and early 20th centuries because he thinks he’s living in the 19th and early 20th centuries.

Spotted in Wisconsin. $10.49 for eggs. Prices keep going up and Donald Trump isn’t doing a damn thing about it!

Information was shared illegally. A career employee at the Social Security Administration provided unauthorized access to data to Elon Musk’s staffers. This employee, Leland Dudek, a data analyst, was recently promoted to acting commissioner by Trump.

It’s also logistically impossible. It’s wrong. It’s unconstitutional. And every single federal employee should send @elonmusk & Trump an email and tell them both to go fuck themselves.

💥The Netherlands' largest pension fund, has sold its shares in Tesla, Meta, and Alphabet (Google). The fund with US $569 billion equivolent in assets is "directing more money to companies and projects that help to improve society and the environment." #Divest www.reuters.com/markets/euro...

Pay attention to this. Replacing JAGs with loyalists enables whatever orders Trump and Hegseth issue to be interpreted as lawful.

It’s called Gleichschaltung. And German history shows us where it can end. Again: we have the knowledge; we have the right words. That the US could still get to this point is such a terrible failure.

Destroying the CDC team researching Lyme disease. Disbanding the HHS Long COVID council. Cutting Medicaid. How is any of this cost-saving? This is not about efficiency. It’s about funding tax breaks for billionaires while costing Americans their health. www.9news.com/article/news...

Interesting thing for the President to say about a person who, according the government’s lawyers, “has no actual or formal authority to make government decisions himself” and “only has the ability to advise the President, or communicate the President’s directives.”

Federal employees are now being told they will be fired if they do not reply to a guy who does not respond to the Moms of his kids.

Man, people will soon be begging for the days when we had egg, food inspectors, and free transgender.

All of Trump’s government picks have deep ties to Israel or Russia. Here is why…

Update on the Measles outbreak in Texas and New Mexico www.nytimes.com/2025/02/22/u... There likely hundreds of cases, so many not being diagnosed. And many more to come. All preventable.
