I have two uncles (fraternal twins) who were named Wayne and Duane.

As I recall, they are actually female, not “fellas”. Among Hani the males stay at home because they are considered too emotional to travel and trade, which is one of the reasons they distrust Tully.

I read this book a while ago and loved it. Must re-read!

The first snow I ever saw in my life was in Oakland, California. There were flakes in the air. It was magic. Then we moved to Massachusetts. My mom woke me up one day. Look outside! Snow! I still remember the magic although when it snows 14 inches and I have to shovel, it’s a stretch.

Umm. You call that snow? Let me tell you about snow!

Except who has actually ever paid the cost when “they own him”. They just rewrite history.

Bullshit. I remember my cousins being shocked when we played it. Not poker. It’s also a card game called “I doubt it”

Revelation can be the shits, can’t it? When I feel vulnerable I listen to music. Thin Lizzie, Prince, Lenard Skynyrd. What do you like?

I feel you, sometimes we can all be defensive. We lash out to protect our inner selves, when just letting someone in, even for just a little, may be what we need.

I’m sure placement of arms has something to do with lymph nodes and their optimum utility, but I never figured it out.

Lest we forget, there was once a series of graphic novels (in the 80s so we barely knew what graphic novels were) about the adventures of Miaowara Tomokato, Samurai Cat https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samurai_Cat

I have that accent (Midwest) so it took me a minute to understand the reference. I also say roots with the same accent. Now someone needs to explain to me how Wales and Whales can sound differently.

I have a replica of the hippo from the Met which my Dad gave me for Christmas sometime in the ‘70s and also an even smaller one (~1.5”, also turquoise) from I got at the British museum

When my parents moved into a house in Salt Lake City it came with two trash cans of wheat. They gave them to my uncle who lived in Eastern Oregon who used it to feed the pheasants on his property. (Feed them out of hunting season and you get more, fatter pheasants in hunting season.)

I love The Blue Sword! Seeing the cover brings back happy memories. I nominate The Riddlemaster of Hed (It’s a trilogy but sooo good) (Edited 12:36 PM via @skeetsapp.com)

Update! Rank choice voting in Alaska survived after all ballots were counted! The NO vote (don’t repeal it) won by 624 votes (50.1%). I bet the margin was higher because you had to vote NO to keep rank choice voting.

Two things I said to my dog (on the same day when he was an adolescent) “Drop that knife” and “Give me back my wallet”

You were wrong because his base doesn’t support banning Cheetos. He drops him like a hot potato now because he criticized Trump’s diet. Doesn’t need him anymore.

Here’s another of my Mom circa 1935. I promise we are not a family of cat torturers it’s just hard to get them to stand still for a photo.

Beans two ways, the traditional green bean casserole (which I made from scratch although Mom kept thrusting a can of cream mushroom soup in my direction - the fried onions on the top were from the can though) and green beans first par boiled the stir fried with pesto.

This time the other withdrew from the general leaving the other two besides Peltola and Begich as the Alaska Independence guy and the convicted felon who is currently in prison.

Except ranked choice voting seems to be losing. Plus the last time she won against Begich because the other Republican in the race was Sarah Palin and Alaskans are so over her so didn’t rank her as second choice. 1/2
