I can't help but notice that he has "scaring," not "scarring" from a gunshot wound.

I find myself trying to explain to the young ones that what they consider "cool 90s" now made us unbelievably uncool back then. I've never been so cool in my entire life.

The work must continue. Today was energizing....as long as it's not a stand-alone event.

I protest because it's safer for me to do it. I show up for folks who can't. Today's march in Philly was unbelievably white in a city that is not.

Or how it protects the Jewish professors and scientists who now fear losing their jobs and their life's work....

Happy to connect with anyone interested in learning more. I am a graduate of Walkabout as well as the ED and it completely changed my life.

This is something I've been working on here walkabout.org and in my work in my current school as the experiential learning coordinator.

(2/2) Instead we tell them they are lazy, unmotivated, incapable or broken in so many other ways. The traditional path to success that we take for granted is and has been blown apart for years. They are unmotivated to play the game we are selling. Time to change the game.....

OR maybe the story we've been telling and the aspirations WE hold and imposed are NOT the same for this generation. I've found that, deep down, the young people I work with have dreams but they need opportunities and structures to explore and discover their strengths. (1/2)

I have no idea how old that woman is supposed to be if that's what a mid-to-late 40s woman is purported to look like I must be woefully out of style 😬🀣

This was always the place where I could "nerd out" on stuff that when I try to talk to folks IRL about their eyes glazed over. I lost that for many years while juggling teaching and 2 young children and now I'm dabbling back in but it's definitely not the same.

I also wonder if they are jaded after getting in the streets in 2020 and working for change and watching that change unraveled within days by this administration

(2/2) I'm headed to a planned rally in the next week. I am curious to see what I see there. The examples in the article are from smaller towns where maybe the population is older? If anything, intergenerational solidarity is a good thing.

I'm thinking of the "OK Boomer" memes/stereotypes. I have no data to back up that surmise. Young people are showing up (Philly students walked out on Friday and marched on City Hall for immigrant student rights) but I know @lutzfernandez.bsky.social experienced the older crowd for herself. (1/2)

We are seeing more examples of crowds composed majorily of older generations where young people aren't even there. I can see how it's ageist to assume that older generations are more likely to be Republicans or pro-Trump, but there's something definitely different going on.

I mean, are we sure this isn't intentional? He knows his audience and base. Those who won't know the difference will just trust Comer knows what he's talking about and get big mad. The steamrolling feels like he knows he is wrong and is hiding it.

As a parent of a tween boy, this is a hellscape coming to my home soon. He has a very limited phone with only 30 minutes/day total of screen time. He told me today a kid in class showed him his time and it was 4.5 HOURS. Kids spend more time listening to YT, IG & TikTok than their parents.

This might be a lame thought, but it's Spring Break for lots of college kids. Are they maybe not home/at school?

1) Contrarianism sells and sometimes we need contrarians even if their ideas are half-baked 2) On the Kara Swisher podcast-thanks @garystager.bsky.social- they shared some interesting ideas based on their journalistic coverage though I wasn't quite convinced they had their argument solidified

The interesting thing about this book is that conservatives claim this book explains why social safety net programs make people lazy and dependent on the government and why we have a "welfare state."
