The press cannot stay silent!

I absolutely do not doubt the sincerity of the position, but I'm finding "the end of NATO, the forced deportation of millions and the introduction of fascism is a price worth paying to send a message to Harris about Gaza" a little difficult to get my head around.

Watching Moore yesterday, was the first time he started to believe that he could run at senior pros like he does at under 21 level. I can't imagine how exciting it was to see it live. Fans in the stadium may well remember that as the day Moore started his rise to the very top.

Remember when the four lanes of traffic were removed from the northern side of Trafalgar Square? Drivers lost their minds, but now no one bats an eyelid. It was a silly idea to allow traffic there in the first place. Change is possible. #London ❤️

At the very least, if you decide to cancel your WaPo and/or LA Times subscriptions, please I am begging you to transfer that money to other publications that you feel deserve the support. Don’t just remove it completely from all journalism. If we want a free press we have to invest in it.

Are you a National Trust member? Do you dislike the cancer of concocted right wing culture-war nonsense slowly and steadily making every good thing in this country, go shit? Then grab your membership number and vote online in the AGM by midnight tonight. Just choose the 'NT recommended candidates'.

Private Eye.

This is a ludicrous and deliberately misleading headline for The Times. Starmer’s definition is fine: working people depend on the money they earn from their work. They might own property or shares but they don’t have enough wealth to live off it. Now jog on.

‘I want to cancel my subscription’

Every day is a pertinent day to propose this, but today perhaps especially: there should not be such a thing as billionaires. A global wealth tax would be of great benefit to all societies and individuals, including the super-rich themselves.

Timo probably needs sessions with a top sports psychologist, because this isn't about football anymore. He does everything right and at a high level, but in front of goal he reverts to an U8 local league player. I feel so sorry for him been there myself and it is a truly horrible feeling .

From my temporary seat here in Spain, the ridiculousness of the entire discourse in UK politics being dictated by a handful of right-wing newspapers and and of government policy being designed to appease them, even though they are unappeasable, is even starker. It's an absurd way to run a country.

We need to talk MUCH more about emotional deregulation with #ADHD. I’m a walking ocean of emotions! I go from chirpy & bright to morose & painfully sad in seconds. Don’t get me started on my newly unleashed anger!! Anything that remotely feels out of my control or unfair results in combustion!

This is rather unfortunate, especially if you tot up all the dodgy stuff the last lot got up to which, let's face it, amounted to more than some suits and football tickets.

If you actually read news, just remember this !

A parable. When you go under the Bloor viaduct, only sometimes do you see a train. A certain disappointed kid might say, "The train tracks are always empty!" It's true, they are. And yet, that train moves half a million people every day, more than any of Toronto's highways.

As @spursoffical are still not here Happy birthday, Ledley 💙

A woman collided with a road and died. *Taps earpiece* I’m sorry, I’m told that she and her two dogs were out on a walk and a guy hit them with his motor vehicle. www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2024...

Tired: There’s a new paper saying green hydrogen will have a high marginal abatement cost Wired: using marginal abatement curves perfected predicted why we don’t have all the cost effective solutions now, because they said we could leave the hard stuff until later. Later is now bro

Wonder how many Tory MPs will politely excuse themselves from a post in new shadow cabinet/ministerial team whether its Jenrick or Badenoch as leader? Some may prefer holding on to outside interests to joining cause that's already lost.

Fuck that! Religion has no business being subsidised by the British taxpayer. www.theguardian.com/education/20...

The only good thing about the focus on Jenrick is I’m feeling less gaslit. Here he is post Brexit - how we must come together as a community. That tune changed quickly.

What lack of joined up thinking & how dysfunctional is the railway electrification strategy (or lack of) in the UK? Chiltern Railways cancels battery train proposals. Clearly full electrification is probably the way to go on a mainline, lets just get it done. www.railwaygazette.com/uk/chiltern-...

The only way the United Kingdom can quit the ECHR is by breaching or re-negotiating the Good Friday Agreement. And Ireland and the nationalist community in the north of Ireland are not going to re-negotiate the GFA so as to remove fundamental rights. No way round this for Jenrick and the Tories.

The towering achievement of the last Labour government was the Good Friday Agreement. Jenrick is prepared to bin it for career reasons. Shame on him.

Curious really that a Tory party that says its supports Ukraine in its the fight to end Russia's illegal invasion of another state may now elect in Jenrick a leader who boasts he would join Putin and his pal Lukashenko outside Europe's legal framework of ECHR. Know them by the company they keep?

Pay as you drive road pricing is inevitable. Bring it on. But don't make the mistake of making it so cheap that it actually encourages more driving www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

I feel like taking a break from food this morning to talk about music. For every "like" on this post, I'll share a personal favorite ALBUM, and maybe it'll lead to some fun musical chit chat!

💯 agree “Sir John Armitt… said it was time for a “proper public debate” about the future funding of the road network and other critical projects” Gov should announce a cross party commission to explore future of motoring taxation, supported by a citizens’ jury. This should be done ASAP

Trying things out here after finding it somewhat deserted a year ago. Threads algorithm finally getting on my nerves.

I'm hearing that Spurs were very impressed by Cleverly's form in snatching defeat from the jaws of victory

This 👇. It's not going to be a fun time for a lot of people who suffer the consequences of the rhetoric that is about to get a significant platform

I’ve taken a break from social media since the Brighton game and I think Brennan Johnson might be onto something. Life is good!

C4’s just-announced US election night coverage America Decides started out so well. Maitlis, Guru-Murthy, Frei and Vine, linked with CNN, plus Stormy Daniels as guest. Then they inexplicably decided to add Boris Johnson which makes it unwatchable.

important, as a columnist, not to shy away from your own fuck-ups anyway this is the intro from the piece I've just filed about the latest round of the Tory leadership contest

Got a ting of nerves today, big challenge ahead for our lads. Will be a good barometer for where we are. COYS

Things that should have made me realise sooner that I was #ADHD number 1: I have 5 different sets of business cards for various unsuccessful ventures. #Hyperfixation #Neurodivergent #SoManyIdeas #CompletionIssues

Whether it's antisemitism, Islamophobia, xenophobia, racism, or transphobia, the right seeks to manufacture fears of “the other” to distract from where all the wealth and power have gone…all the way to the top. Know the truth — and stand united against hate and division.

A guy at university was called Hunter. He was vegan. He was given the nickname 'Gatherer'. If you know any better nicknames than that, I simply need to hear that. As that is the legit gold standard of nicknames

Pop music is a time machine. Distant Drums by Jim Reeves on Radio 2. Instantly transported back to the mid 60s listening to Family Favourites on a Sunday accompanied by the smell of cabbage entering its third hour of being boiled.

“Despite all the well-known harmful side effects of driving, an important social cost is often overlooked: the opportunity cost of not walking or cycling, including to public transport stops.” Excellent summary from LSE on the need to focus on health in delivering transport policies

The only thing he regrets about partygate was apologising. And Brexit was just an argument with Cameron that he had to win. What a monumental dickhead Johnson is. He fully deserves his disgraceful legacy and no book he writes, no interview he gives can ever change that.

When two people with ADHD hang out: Mutually assured distraction…

One of the best things Bluesky has brought to us is the return to shameless pet posting. Yes, show me your birds and bunnies and kittens and puppies, it makes everything better.

I took this photo in Rye. Went to post it to twitter and saw a quote tweet where I was being called a “f**king moron”. At that minute I knew that was the final straw with that app for me. The longer I stay away from that app, the more I think it’s for the better! As it stands, I’m enjoying it here
