I had a school reunion in my dream. Glad I attended it there, it means I won’t have to go to the real one.

The cat of my elderly neighbours is notoriously shy. Normally when I go over he instantly runs away. Slowly (after 14 years) he’s thawing and will now be in the room while I am there for coffee and a chat. He even allowed pets yesterday.

Where are my fellow Kdrama watchers. I love this show. Undercover High School. Some great actors in this one. It’s fun and tense and very moorish

For years, here in the UK there was no credible alternative to audiobooks apart from Audible. That has really changed and now there’s several. My favourite is XigXag a UK provider based in Cornwall and London.

Proud of Zelenskyy for holding his own!!!

Today, we remember back to 2022, when Bearwood celebrated the Queen's Platinum Jubilee in its own unique special wayđź‘‘

The best possible result in the #Germany #elections *under the circumstances* (global far-right wave) is: 1. The right-wing populist Conservatives in need of not just 1 but 2 coalition partners. (available: Greens, SocDem, Socialists) 2. The far-right AfD no higher than ~20%.

Listened to Radio 4 programme about why we like and have dogs. Seriously love the randomness of British radio programmes.

Also a funny situation this week when someone confused an idiom and so the translation was incorrect (now fixed) but so funny. "sich einen Wolf laufen" = literal, "to walk yourself a wolf" means "chafing", mostly between your legs, due to fabric rubbing while walking.

Modal particles in German are the hardest thing for language learners to grasp and often tricky to deal with when it comes to subtitles. A lot of times they're the first thing to be cut to maintain reading speed. I'm such a geek that I have read 6 linguistics papers on the topic last year.

Wenn ihr nicht wisst, wen ihr wählen sollt, dann wählt - verdammt noch mal - das kleinste Übel.

Some days the anxiety is just close to winning. Today is one of those days.

So many ideas floating around my mind, so many things I want to do.

Researching quilt history by watching a documentary series from 2011. It’s so shocking how different this kind of US portrayed in the series feels to the US portrayed now.

#Germany Hundreds of thousands came out in Germany today against far-right extremism. More than 250k in Munich alone. 35k in Bremen. 4k in Mainz. 24k in Hanover, 12k in Konstanz, 14k in Wuppertal ... and it goes on. Nationwide. www.tagesschau.de/inland/gesel...

I have mixed feelings over Marvel movies but I lurve their logo and Michael Giacchino's music. Made a lecture register code homage/pastiche/rip-of. The important thing was that I could update and render the code in under an hour. Eevee to the rescue

exactly this. going to start an inclusive birding club this Spring despite it all. But will need a month to nap between outings.

Still buzzing from the workshop yesterday. Yes because of the permission to paint but also because it affirmed something I have long believed: we thrive in a culture where we are told we can just try it out without an expectation of results.

Donald Trump’s proposal for Gaza is bizarre and dangerous. The UK cannot remain silent.

Ah yes, I did leave my comfort zone today and went to an art class Like so many people I have lots of narratives around what I can and, especially, what i can’t do. Water colour is out of my depth but two of my words for this year are “reimagine” and “nourish” and so I went along.
