I also have a lot of experience of living along the line on meteorological maps.
Hoping you get the pretty outcome!

Planted celery, chards, lettuces, kale, basil, and Culver's root... eager to get some more stuff going, but my Fedco order hasn't shipped yet.

It's not that I see no value in online community (otherwise I'd not have maintained connection with you across multiple platforms)--but I do worry that the number of people who are choosing their screens over the people around them is causing real societal problems.

Don't let the social media algorithms convince you that you are happier in isolation. Humans are social creatures and we belong in community.

We are getting an exercise bike for home because sometimes (especially in winter) it's really hard to drag these tired middle-aged bodies to the gym after working all day. Especially when we still have community engagements and want to have some family time.

Got rid of our rice cooker because the coating on the pot was starting to flake and we didn't want to be eating PFAS (or closely related compounds).

This looks delicious -- do you use a published recipe for this perchance?
I've been meaning to try cornmeal crust for pies, but I'm so nervous about screwing it up since it's unfamiliar to me.

In a family of 6 it's really not that many eggs. It would be one egg per person for 3 days.

Standard corn syrup is 100 glucose. The concerns about HFCS are because it gets processed to become 55-90% fructose, and fructose is associated with more health concerns than glucose.
Corn syrup has been around and used in cooking since the 1800s. HFCS was introduced to the market in the 1970s.

Corn syrup is not the same as high fructose corn syrup. The latter is a heavily processed version of the somewhat processed former.

I have no idea. I always enthusiastically share random details and then feel consumed with awkward embarrassment after the fact.

When I used to focus on the national/international stuff, I often felt overwhelmed. “What can I, a middle aged mom in a small town, do to make any of this better?”
But when I first focus my finite time and energy on my local #community I discover many ways that I can make things better.
