@jeremymberg.bsky.social Easy to find dozens of duplicates of this comment on Schedule F, each with a different associated name. Presumably this spam operation, or ones like it, is why the deadline was extended. Mildly disappointing they didn't even have the creativity to use LLM to make variants.

For some reason, I was just thinking about how Trump’s former chief of staff tried to warn us right before the election that Trump was a fascist who wanted to rule us like a dictator … and the New York Times put that story on page A12

Cannot stress enough that this is a pitiful action by a weak, scared, pathetic group of insecure, wannabe authoritarians, and they should be mocked until the end of time for wanting to bring in the military over some people protesting them at a Home Depot.

there is merit — people demonstrating that they have the capacity to complete a given task — and “merit,” an ontological category reserved for some people and not others

The "Nationalist Right", as an intellectual and political movement, wants to make America poorer, less safe, more corrupt, more divided, and less free. That's not my editorializing, that is quite literally what they want. They hate that this country exists, they want it to be something different.

2,000 troops (purportedly); 4,753 mi²

Guys the authority invoked is not the Insurrection Act don’t let ppl tell you it’s the Insurrection Act ok

They’re not actually Vichy pieces of shit unless they are equivocating about fascism *and* have a tenure-track appointment at the Academic and Technology Center Vichy.

We @lawfaremedia.org will hopefully publish something on this soon but fwiw the legal authority invoked is NOT the Insurrection Act — it’s 10 USC 12406, which is much more limited than an Insurrection Act invocation. (Reporters: Chris Mirasola is the expert to talk to about this)

they're doing this because the Insurrection Act sounds cool and edgy but they can't actually justify using the Insurrection Act. it's a silly action by an insecure administration desperately to seem manly and powerful. it should be criticized relentlessly, but it should also be laughed at.

Here’s the “Presidential Memorandum”: www.whitehouse.gov/presidential... There’s no Insurrection Act invocation; Trump is federalizing 2000 CA Nat’l Guard personnel only to “protect federal functions.” *Without* invoking the Insurrection Act, anything more would violate the Posse Comitatus Act.

The thing that springs most immediately to mind is that these idiot fucks really have no idea, no idea at all, of how large an area LA county covers.

Feel like the news reporting on this is very lazy. What national guard is Homan (a thug gangster if there ever was one) deploying exactly? The CA national guard is under the authority of Gov Newsom. Trump cld nationalize the guard. But we're not hearing anything abt that.

Re-upping this “One First” post from April asking—and trying to answer—five questions about the domestic use of the military:

Miller should insist platoons of Guard members sleep in random LA people’s homes this evening, just to see if the Supreme Court would 6-3 or 5-4 its way to overturning the third amendment. Real opportunity for truly original Originalist hijinks.

the white house thinks brute force is, no pun intended, a trump card. they don’t anticipate pushback and they don’t know how to handle it with anything other than escalation. the issue is that each escalation is itself a gamble. if protesters refuse to back down, you’ve lost face. (1/?)

Kristi Noem in Feb 2024: If Biden federalizes the National Guard [to handle border issues], we’ve got a war on our hands.”l Kristi Noem in 2025 as DHS Secretary: …federalizing the National Guard.

Dictatorship.

Are some of you adults??? What's with the 'provoking people to use martial law' talking point that keeps circulating? Do you know anything at all about FASCISTS? THEY NEED NO EXCUSE OR PROVOCATION TO DO ANYTHING.

Man, people are looking at the wildly successful occupations that the US Military has had in the last thirty years and I get it, it's obvious that they're overwhelmingly succ- *taps ear piece* Hm. I'm getting some concerning information about this.

My reading between the lines is that LAPD going "lol no" caught Homan, Miller, etc. Very off guard.

Hell of a photo

What is the city but the people?

You have no rights if you do not exercise them.

L.A. is a Mexican-American city. The majority of the population is made up of racial and ethnic minorities. We are all happy living together and really do not want to see our friends, neighbors and families being terrorized by federal robo-cops. This is bullshit.

Tom Homan deserves to die alone.

RFK Jr is extremely poisonous and dangerous, with no moral compass

Idk how people are dooming about this tbh. He sounds fucking terrified and in over his head. Again: they do not have the personnel.

The administration gets closer to using the military to crush civilian dissent. Expect deaths, disappearances, and lawless detentions.

We hear about how pro-immigrant side is extreme. There is literally nothing more extreme than this statement. Being willing to sacrifice the country’s foundations for an evil goal

The most striking thing about the LA protests is how many people just dropped everything to show up and yell at federal agents. There are people in suits, and carrying dogs, and wearing flip flops or bike helmets. These are not people who planned to do this today. But there they are.

YOU. Yes, YOU.

Man imagine being such a combination of malicious and incompetent that the LAPD think it’s too much
