And building nat gas power plants to run it all. I feel like the AI push is a front for O&G.

BC could really benefit from electoral reform. The NDP/Green vote splitting is brutal and you end up with very progressive ridings electing cons.

lol that's less than half the value of Chip Wilson's house.

I use paper straws a few times every week and never have a problem. Sometimes I even reuse the same straw in multiple drinks. Do certain fast food chains have especially bad straws? I feel like I'm missing something.

Thanks for pointing this out. I'm new here, so it's really helpful. The provincial election vote split was wild.

Why cave to a party that is getting crushed in the poles? Because they are mean on the internet?

He really doesn't get it? It's not about Tesla's cars. It's about the fascist CEO.

It has to be from the Pavés region, otherwise it's just a sparkling cobblestone.

It ignited a series of sports tariffs, with US leadership mistaking their goal deficit as subsidizing Canadian victories.

Nice digital billboard they've got there. Sure would be a shame if someone hit it with a drone.

I know this is besides the point, but I'm totally distracted by how little X appears to be dressed by @dieworkwear.bsky.social and Elon seems to be dressed by an incel task force.

I feel like these "luxury-goods" purity tests are actually rural/urban dog-whistles. When I lived in Northern BC, a BMW seemed like an unobtainable luxury because they were uncommon. So "Sellout Singh" made sense. But so many people actually have a truck and accessories worth more than that.

Exactly. People spend money on their hobbies, and for some people, that includes high quality clothing. Most of us have a $2,000 something that is not strictly necessary.
comment in response to post
Surely there are other ways to come up with that money. Sounds like a policy of any excuse for cruelty and cuts.

I believe this is what Mark Zuckerberg calls "masculine energy."

I keep seeing the sentiment that we've known he was crazy for a long time, but the MSM has sanitized or avoided his craziness so long that most people can be completely unaware, even if they are researching electric cars to buy. I hope Tesla finally drops him as CEO.

I feel like the cons will pivot to interprovincial trade framed as provincial grievances against the federal government.

Imagine that! A publicly owned e-commerce platform. Answer every Canadian oligarchy with a crown corporation.

I hope there is finally enough pressure to remove Musk as CEO. Any policy targeting Tesla (CDN counter tariff) should be clear about that intent and state why. Most people's news is so sanewashed that they can buy a Tesla and still know nothing about Elon, even now.
comment in response to post
The news is so amazingly sane-washed. I feel like a conspiracy nut just recounting things that are clearly recorded and documented but only in my feed because I'm a terminally online news junkie.

Many are in BC and Quebec because those provinces have strong EV policies and crown corp utilities with stable electricity. Model 3 and Y are popular, normal cars there, especially with people who drive a lot, because they save tons on fuel/maint and were most readily available EVs until recently.

He is forcing "temporary hardship" and "temporary disruptions" so that REITs can scoop up property and oligarchs can buy up smaller competitors / suppliers in a weakened economy. That's how oligarchs work. The excuses for tariffs are a facade.
comment in response to post
Tesla should remove him as CEO. But it's strange to target Tesla so specifically with proposed policy, especially since there are a bunch of Canadian Tesla staff. Elon can do way more damage with Twitter and Starlink.
comment in response to post
"Temporary hardship" being enough hardship for REITs to buy up cheap property and oligarchs to buy up smaller businesses.

I've felt bad about buying a new electric snowblower and then getting zero snow this year in Courtenay. Looking forward to a couple days of validation.

Is he arguing that traffic jams cause an EV to suddenly use up all power? Electric cars use almost no power in stop-and-go traffic.

I keep getting news notifications and video recommendations from MSM about Christy Clark. It's absurd but I feel like if they just keep repeating it, Christy will be a thing.

I worked as a delivery driver all through university. I have dreams where I get up in the morning and see there is still a delivery in my car from the night before.
