That is exactly true.

An excellent piece about masking in 2025. misfitmentalhealth.substack.com/p/why-are-pe...

Also, where can we find these videos? 🫦

X and all of Meta should be treated as hostile US state-controlled media All countries should stop giving them data immediately, and stop being subjected to their algorithmic control Every government should move to Bluesky ASAP, and stop using X and Meta apps

This fucking administration.... 🤮

Getting accommodations after my brain abscess was quite an effort. It's especially hard for those of us with invisible disabilities. Some days I can handle "normal" amounts of activity but many days I can't.

My memory for simple things like the day's schedule has gotten so bad that I'm contemplating tattooing it on my body. like the guy from Memento. #randomthoughts

I got laid off today, with the rest of 18F. 18F was an elite federal software shop. We made gov't websites work better, more efficiently for the American people. We saved taxpayers from getting screwed over by contractors. And were fired for it. We made this website to tell our story: 18f.org

March is Women's History Month. From our founding 1776 statement that "All men are created equal," wholly ignoring women, to the ERA still not law in 2025—one fact remains—men continue to deny women equal justice. RIP David Johansen, who lived many lives.

Sometimes grief takes the form of a daughter playing her father's Beatles records (yes, vinyl) then working her way up to her father's recordings from the mid-70s when she was a little girl. I always found it cool that Dad had been in a band and there are recordings.

I hereby declare that the State of New York disowns Zeldin. (That absolute wanker.)

Being middle aged during these times is wild because it’s like, will I die of a preventable disease, will I die as a casualty in WW3, or will I live long enough to die when humankind gets eradicated by climate change?

Excellent piece by @lawrenceodonnell.msnbc.com

girl called Lesbiana Fagotovich-Homoseks from 11th century slovenia who joined a monastery exclusively to 'hang out' with other nuns and got buried in a marital double grave with the chief abbess: "i am gay" modern historians: "yeah so we can't really tell whether this person was queer or not"

Happy Sunday, Skeethearts ☕️💙

DOGE By The Numbers theonion.com/doge-by...

JD Vance is so nauseatingly unlikeable that he’s literally dragging down the AfD’s approval rating

I appreciate the folks who click like on my posts when I'm just expressing what's going on for me. Thank you for acknowledging me in this parasocial world we live in. (I feel it can be a bonus to having usual offline-world friendships.)

I am so exhausted from a week of going through my Dad's things, having his funeral and getting started as best we can on his estate. I will be so happy to go home tomorrow. I'm at the pt of exhaustion where I'm worried I'll have a seizure.

Dad's funeral is today. I've learned that cutting my mother out of my life is still the best choice I ever made. She was bleeding my father dry. She has a lot to gain from his death, but she's on her own after that. She better learn to handle her finances right quick. I won't be helping her.

Congressperson John Lewis, whose ‘good trouble’ they love to quote so much, was arrested 45 times in his life. The last was in 2013 protesting for immigrants, during the Obama presidency.

Dad's life insurance (admittedly not a huge amount) was left to my fucking mother. He divorced her, he endured over 30 years of marriage to her and still felt guilty about it. I will have to make contact with her over this once I'm legally named administrator of his estate. FML.

I do too. We all need to stand together.

Anybody who works closely with young people, anybody who's had cause to visit a psychiatric unit, knows that the EOs are going to result in dead kids. That's not a maybe. That's a fact. And these fucking killers know it; want it. Whatever happens, let us never forget that.

NYC Union Square

Elon is going off on a tirade against the judge who enjoined DOGE from accessing sensitive systems. Make no mistake, this is an attempt to incite threats and violence against the judge and intimidate the judiciary as a whole.

I leave tomorrow AM to go where Dad was living. I have to start going through his things, start the process of being named administrator of his estate, and then, on Tuesday, see him one last time, celebrate his life, and commit his remains to the grave. It's become very real again. I miss him.

This is why we need to read papers from all over the world. The US media is doing a terrible job.

I went from researching care homes this afternoon, to getting a call from my dad's friends that they couldn't get him to answer the phone or come to his door, to getting a call back the the police had to break in, and they found him dead on the floor. Why did my awesome parent have to die first?

For #BlackHistoryMonth we're offering 40% OFF Haymarket Books on the Struggle for Black Liberation

Happy Black History Month. Well adjusted and sensible white people don't feel threatened by celebrating the accomplishments of black citizens in the United States. I look forward to learning about great black people over the course of this month.

And start gassing the disabled as a trial run for much more murder later. We all need to stand together.

In my self-defense classes I focus on how most people are socially conditioned to follow the norms of a civilized, polite society — and there is a MENTAL SHIFT required to use violence to defend from violence. I'm reminded of this while watching our elected officials dithering and delaying. 1/

With science falling under increasing attack, this medical historian is here to remind people of the power of #vaccines. THREAD🧵 Hard-hitting polio advert from 1958. In the first half of the 20th century, polio was the leading cause of death in children and young adults. 1/7
